Aren't you curious at all to see what Kap can do in Chip's offense?

He does need to redo his deal however.

This would be ideal.

Yeah, it would be ideal, but I don't think Kap would (or should) give too much back. He signed an extremely team friendly deal to begin with. Solid back-up QBs in this league are paid $4-5M a year. Do you expect him to cut his guaranteed money in half, where he could potentially open as the starter? I think he reworks the deal so there is less guaranteed money this year (say, in the $5M range), but if he is named the starter then he gets the original $11M (still a bargain for a starter).

Kap will have options on the open market. The team does not have him by the balls like many think they do.

I lost a ton of faith in Kap this year, but if they hold onto him and he gets through training camp and flourishes and isnamed the starter, then the man deserves to be paid.

He is making 11.9M so where are you getting cap space from? Please tell me how Kaep's salary limited the team this season and how it will limit it next season. Please, explain that to me young man.

You can't pay that money to a backup player when plenty of your starters will be making close to 1/10th of that amount. It leads to bad things and overpaying for players who don't deserve big money.

Just because the niners have cap space doesn't mean they should spend major bucks on guys who aren't worth it.

Exactly. There's lot of ways for CK and the FO to work this out. CK has been spotted at the facility rehabbing yet if the FO saw CK as the Franchise QB, they'd include him in the HC search. And they didn't.

Eli Manning basically hand picked his own HC.

Dude you need to stop with this stuff. So much speculation from you. Since when is a QB going to have a say in a HC search? C'mon.
especially the back up QB

A starting QB gets paid. If they keep him on the roster, sure, a rework of the deal is fine. If he is eventually named the starter, his original money should come back into play. If he is a back-up, he will just be a well paid backup in the reworked deal and we dump him next year.

Yes Kap makes $11.9, but his cap hit is just over $15 million.

Compare that to $7.3 million if he's cut. Compare that to nothing if he's traded.

How will his cap hit keep the team from landing free agents? Are you aware of all the cap space the team has?

Oh look, Carson Palmer playing like poop in the playoffs against the Packers. How much is he making?

Don't act condescending with me too, it's not only rude, but tiring. All I did was post the figures. Nowhere in that post do I say anything about how his cap space affects the team.

It's like you want people to hate Kap so you have a reason to continue coming here.

But how is any of that relevant to what I was saying to the poster I had quoted originally? You dominate this thread dude, for a guy that doesn't like him, you sure are in here 24/7.

Moving on...you win, I don't want to have this discussion anymore, it's unproductive and will solve nothing.

You were talking about cap space. $11.9 is not the correct figure. If you want to argue about it, it would probably help to have the correct figure. Otherwise, your argument has no grounding in fact, and you lose credibility. Have a nice day.

And again, quit being rude. I like Kap just fine. It's not my fault I can objectively discuss a player without having it rely on how I feel towards him.

12M vs 15M the point still remains, how will that hinder the team this year?

I didn't say it did. I didn't say it didn't. I'm not arguing one way or the other, just pointing out the correct figures. Have a nice day.

What's funny to me, is that I can't figure out which one of you is Pro-Kap and which one is Anti-Kap.

What I really like about Kaepernick, is that he owns up to his struggles. He often says "this was on me" "this loss was on me". I respect that.
