Kap has regressed since the SB choke and he has a bunch of flaws and shortcomings as a NFL QB he hasn't fix. It is the main reason why the 49ers is in ruin once again, that's the bottom line and it was HARB who bet and gamble on KAP.

If kap was good in 2014 would Harb be fired??? Could York had any reason to fired Harb if they went 15-1, 14-2, 13-3, 12-4, 11-5, or even 10-6 with kap and beat Seattle 2x to make the play-offs in 2014?

The 49ers is where they are right now because of kap and his shortcomings. Plain and simple.

24th in completion %, 17th in yards and TD passes, 20th in rating. Plus 52 drive killing sacks. Kap brings a lot of the sacks on himself. Below average body of work to say the least.

I do not believe that to be a fact.

I didn't mean it that way, was using "drive killing" as an adjective.

So not all of those sacks led to a drive dying, it was just hyperbole?

i dont think so yet. chip will have to try him out, hes got time before the draft to get with him to see whats going on, a decision doesnt have to be made til april 1st so im sure after kap is done with rehab chip will see what kap can do and have a chat with him on x's and o's. i have a feeling Kap will get another year to show what hes got, kelly wanted to trade for him before so im sure he sees something in him

I think they have too although Casserly said Kelly's first job (aside from putting together a staff), will be to review all CK's film and give Baalke/Gamble an assessment.

But like a contract, I'm sure all 3 have a parameter set on what direction to go.

I'm sure CHIP sold it to the FO what be an do with KAEP.

IMO if kap survives the April (or whatever date it was) deadline, he'll be the front runner just because of his contract but overall, there will be an open competition.

I wonder if the team will ask him to restructure like Alex had to and prove his worth from backup to earning a starter job/contact again.

Otherwise, there won't be a fair competition when one guy is making $11.9M and the other, 6 times less.

CK will certainly be given the ball and would have to really tank to lose it.

Alex had proven nothing at the time of the restructure. Give me a break. The money means nothing. I don't get why it's such a big deal. Is it keeping the team from improving? Did the team do anything with the extra cap space they had this season? The money is just a way for some haters to justify in their minds that Kaep has to go.

So basically 9ers: "Hey Kaep, we're going to pay you less than the open market value so we can sign other players to improve the team. We won't sign anyone, give you a crap line, a crap HC, get you injured because of their incompetence, leak a bunch of BS stories about you and then ask you to restructure even though your salary isn't keeping us from signing anyone" C'mon.
