Well if he is on the roster after April is the entire contract vested? Or simply all of it for the next season alone?

I'm not sure. Ask around, I'm sure someone's got the answer to that.

I was talking about fans here as well....making up s**t, to bash Kaepernick's character.

as far as KNBR... well all you have to do is listen to Ted Robinson and Kevin Lynch to see where their bias are. I understand Geep or Tomsula defending Gabbert's performances...because they don't want to throw him under the bus...just like they didn't do that (at least with the media) with Kaepernick.. it's just the PC thing to do.

but Robinson and Lynch having been making claims about Kaepernick since he was benched... I mean Robinson is suppose to be the play by play guy...but he shows his bias.

talks about stuff 4 years ago... that Alex got his job taken away from him (which can be argued and understandingly so, because of injury) but Ted goes on about how Kaepernick never had to fight for the Starting job.. that it was given to him....and that he didn't pick up on Alex's character of being a good teammate...because you didn't hear a peep from Alex all the way to that SuperBowl run. Said that Kaepernick should've held off on the injury. This is the play by play guy again... who also bashed Harbaugh yesterday because of the Tomsula firing...saying that Jim's sins left with the team held back Tomsula this year....lol.

first Kaepernick was fighting/competing for the Starting job AS SOON AS HE TOOK THAT FIRST SNAP.... he had to continue to play well or else it would be back to Alex....and he had to keep playing well.

that is the most legit way someone can fight for a starting role... Live bullets.. this wasn't like in preseason where it can be easy to look good. These were important games for us to make the playoffs... RIGHT after we barely missed out on the SuperBowl the year before. There was ALOT of pressure...and not just to make the playoffs..but to win in the playoffs.

So to say that he never had to fight for anything? That is just a lazy, unprofessional, disrespectful attempt to diminish all the hard work Kaepernick actually put in. And it is mainly unprofessional because Ted should be held to a higher standard. 9er fans are the ones who listen and rely on him to give them facts and info about the team. To use that podium to make some b******t personal opinion is disrespectful and unprofessional.

then questioning Kaepernick regarding the injury when the team's OWN medical staff said whoops.. actually it is worse than they expected and he should get surgery. I mean Ted Robinson doesn't even mention this s**t... he is the play by play guy, yet he lets his bias show too easy. To be honest, the way he went about his words yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if he is out of the job next year.....just a hunch on my part.

and before some might think I'm just hating on the guy... I LOVED listening to him as a kid (SF GIANTS pbp), and was sad when he went to the Mets I believe.

I was actually going to call in to KNBR to call him out....still might.

In all fairness to a few of your points on them being Biased. I haven't listened to them in well over a year, But during the whole Kap taking over and during our runs with him, they seemed head over heels over Kap doing the things we always needed Smith to do but he wouldn't. So since I had to drive back from LA today, I had 5 hours to kill, so I can only comment on what I had heard back then, and what I heard all this morning and early afternoon. And to me its like night and day in the change..

And its funny as hell, because I came VERY close to calling KNBR as well with some of the stuff they were saying because it was making no sense.

I didnt like how they were talking of Keeping only Gabbert as a "stop gap" and NOT drafting a QB next year. I could understand keeping Gabbert at 2million as opposed to Kaepernick's 12million or whatever it is and using Gab as a stop gap for whatever QB we get next year, but to Not draft a QB all together and use him as our stop gap is mind-boggling.

They all seem to think that trading the pick down, and then building a team, (and this is what I started taking from it) around gabbert, because hes "serviceable". So to me it seems like they want to build a "complete" team, and THEN draft a Quarterback when we are done "using up" Gabbert it sounds like? Makes zero sense to me. So they are pretty much telling us to be "Bad enough" to suck and never sniff playoffs, but be "good enough" to not get top 5 picks year in year out to really lower the bust chance on finding a star player at a low cost, or finding a QB.

Like if we built a complete team around Gabbert, like it sounded to me they suggested because hes just good enough to make us look respectable, we arent trying to win superbowls then. In other words, I guess I should just stop watching 49er football for the next 2-3 years while they build this "complete" team. Then once we have this "complete" team, and backup Quarterback starting, we are then going to "hope" we are drafting low enough to pick up a QB? like WTF? In other words, if we get this "complete" team, we then have to wait another two years for our "rookie" qb to develop enough to actual contest in a big game like the superbowl, So therefore we just wasted two years of our "complete" team they want to build because we didnt want to draft the Quarterback first. It literraly reminds me of throwing a bunch of ingredients onto a piece of meat, but having no idea how the meat is going to look or taste because you have NO IDEA what meat you have, and I am referring to the quarterback as the meat, and the "complete team" around him as the ingredients.

The reason I am going into such detail about this is because whatever "Credible" source they had on their show a few minutes to an hour ago said that this was a SERIOUS option that Baalke/York are considering.

I don't trust their sources... their sources is most likely Ted Robinson. All you have to do is go to KNBR's Ondemand Podcast section (easier if you have the app) go under Football news...and look for Robinson's on Gabbert or the offense... each week he comes on. 10-15 mins of listening. And he's pushed for exactly what you wrote.

as far as worrying about the team playing it safe at QB... I think with what Jed said today, you don't have to worry about that..... to him 5-11 is the same as 8-8. He doesn't want to be lingering in the middle.. doesn't want to have a coach that has the team lingering in the middle..

and I'm sure he also means at QB. So either Kap or Gabbert play like a Top QB, or the FO is going to spend on another QB, or draft high in 2017. He expects to make the playoffs next year, the way I took it.
If its Chip Kelly or Shannahan then Kaep stays. If its anyone else then he's a goner.

Hue liked him
Payton played against him...watched him in the playoffs. Sean likes the ball pushed down the field no? Would make sure the Oline is good as can be, to make it possible.

I mean the 12million isn't coming from their pocket. They care/look long long term. They need to win ASAP. So they might push to keep Kaepernick for one more year...just in case...even if they are curious about Gabbert.

Quite contrarily I think anyone ready the entire context would think that you had an entirely different point. That being to support what you posted where a radio show claimed that Kaps agent could not find a team interested and that is why he was having the surgery.

Was listening to 680 this morning on my drive. Just heard that kaepernick went and got another "random" MRI and now may need to have surgery on his right thumb which will could cause him to fail his upcoming physical and cost the 49ers 12million because they planned to waive him after the physical.

The hosts of the show talked about how they believe it's a ploy by kaepernicks agent suggesting his agent has already reached out to multiple teams in hopes of a team wanting to pick him up, but no team is biting at all or interested in kap... Therefore they think this is just a way for his agent and kap to collect the money..

Or what about free agency? No ones allowed to talk to the free agents before free agency opens up yet the first day of free agency millions of players get signed. These dudes are all in contact with each other wether they are supposed to be or not

My response indicates very clearly why his agent would not have been in contact and why the situations you mentioned were substantially different

kaepernick doesn't possess the accuracy needed to push the ball down the field in Payton's schemes and he seems to lack the ability or patience to ever get much past his first read. Just how do you think he is going to execute Payton's offense? That is my biggest concern about bringing in a new coach, they are going to convince themselves that they can "fix" Kaepernick and we're going to waste another year going down a road we have already travelled. He simply isn't good enough to waste the time or money on anymore

I just don't get the hate on Kap. The remarks how dumb he is Etc...
A Luck hasn't been spectacular in my eyes.. A. Dalton?? Nope..
I can go on.. Rivers? Yep he's Good, must be the whole team around him that sucks.
Cam... Ok, this year. The other years, his pouting on the sidelines made me laugh at him.
Kap has shown he can ball out during the regular season and when it matters, in the playoffs.
Oh, Gabbert!! We found our savior. Our stop gap...
What a joke.

Who would you prefer?
I hope he can put that stubborn/ harbaugh loving feeling on the side when the new coach comes in or else he's a goner

You have to understand, a lot of it is coming from people who were big fans of the previous QB who still can't get over it. Another contingent just don't like the fact that he is "urban" and can't relate to him. Some hate him for other reasons...most of it comes off as irrational though. The hate Kaep receives is on a level I don't think I've ever seen.

I have noticed what appears to be a underlying theme in some posts of Gabbert being some sort of redemption for Alex Smith.

Especially with the number down to around 12 mil per....you almost have to roll the dice unless some stupid offer comes out of the woodwork.

You should stop making these assertions or list names. Many posters, including myself, liked both QBs. The guys who are blasting Kaepernick may actually be doing so because they had so much hope for him and he's flamed out.

I never understand hate toward any player on your own team but it happens...not big deal. As for Kaepernick's accuracy, he's very accurate when set and using good footwork. Gabbert missed on some passes that were headscratchers. It happens. I would love to see the team being in a coach who can help both QBs, which would strengthen the team and allow them to draft another position in the first round.
