No it doesn't. It's only an issue if you spend to the cap. What makes you so sure this team will spend to the cap? In addition, Kaep isn't the only player signed right now. But he's an easy target.

I'd agree with you if we had a competent coaching staff and weapons to where it was clear Kaep was never going to get it. But he was surrounded by poor coaching. We already know what he can do with a good team and that is getting to a SB and providing a chance to win. You're paid based on past performance and future performance as well as potential. Should Luck take a paycut this year since he sucked worse than Kaep? Stafford? Rodgers had an off year, should he get paid less now?

Haha...torm

Does anyone have that cartoon comic pic of Kaep pre-snap read of the play where he misses a wide open #7Torrey Smith?

His IG account went full liberal mental breakdown - now it's confirmed he is a wuss - Just like Jed

it goes back if you believe Kaepernick was the sole reason we didn't make it to the playoffs last year. Even playing in the NFC West, we still had a chance. If we beat the Rams at home (Goal-line controversy/fumble) could've changed the end of that regular season.

We've seen other Playoff/Super QBs struggle in the regular season...or heck miss the playoffs... it's not like they were given up on right after that.

And it's not like Kaepernick had a bad 2014 season.
I think your definition of bad differs from most people, he was ranked 20th in QBR, most people would call that bad since it is below average.

14th last year.

Ahead of Alex Smith, Cam Newton, Ryan Tannehill, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andy Dalton, Matt Stafford, Derek Carr.

The guy that was terrible last year, the athlete playing QB had the 14th best QBR playing in the toughest division in football.

In 2015 your boy Gabbert is 30th. BEHIND Kaep. Please...spin away.

A source indicated to CSNBayArea.com recently that Baalke was not inclined to select Cal quarterback Jared Goff or Memphis' Paxton Lynch with a high first-round pick. Now, it only figures the new coach's opinion will be the only voice that matters when it comes to evaluating the game's most-important position.

It isn't a pay cut...we have the option every single season to walk away or renegotiate under his current deal, a deal he signed. Technically speaking we owe him nothing. Also I fully believe after the last two years we are going to end up close to the cap, we would have been this year if 4 guys didn't retire and one didn't get traded.

It wasn't Bad, the team was full of injuries and going through turmoil and he still put up pretty good numbers. 19 TD's, 10 INT's, 3300 passing yards and 600+ rushing is not what I'd call "bad". Then again most of you hate Kaepernick for reasons I don't understand.

Ck's 2014 is comparable to 3 or 4 of Joe Montana's less then peak seasons. There is nobody that can make a case that 2014 was worse then Joe's worst season ... While the game has changed, we are talking about one of the most efficient QBs of all time with some of the best weapons of all time under one of the best coaches of all time.

I think throwing around the term BAD as related to the 2014 season reflects more on the poster history of watching bad QBs then it does on CK's actual performance. We all want perfection, and 2014 was something that can be improved upon, but when you look at the total picture, its hardly bad.

Also keep in mind that for Kap 2014 was a tale of two halfs. The first half of the season his stats were on track to be the best of his career. Then they lost Kilgore and Martin started at center. After that is when his stats dropped considerably.

For some odd reason Kaep is not allowed to have a down year, even with Injury and a team going through a bunch of Front Office Drama. Meanwhile Crickets about Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck and everybody else having a terrible season.

This so much this
I have a feeling who ever the new coach is he will end up keeping Kap and try to turn him around

I would avoid saying "QBR." You meant QB rating. "QBR" is becoming synonymous with the BS ESPN non-stat number.

I'm with ya. I don't think Kaep is going anywhere. Much to the dissatisfaction of many fans. Gabbert was a pleasant surprise, but he wasn't setting the world on fire behind a slighty better, Deevey-less, Killgor enhanced, offensive line.

Not to mention, all the sudden some scrubs figured out how to semi-decently run the ball.
