When did I ever call him a bargain? You seem to be arguing with ghosts. Hate it when other posters butt into conversations that they aren't apart of.

It is a public forum and you replied to me....get off your high horse.

Don't worry. The days r ticking. Kap and his homers will be gone like Tomsula soon enough

Nobody wants Kelly. Trent needs to do 2 things to save his job. Have an A draft and get the best coach on the market.

Then why did the Yorks all the sudden change course on their boy Tomsula once Chip was fired 4 days earlier??

Tomsula wasn't going to last. I really doubt Chip getting fired made that big of a difference. Coaches get fired all the time.

The deal is team friendly in that we can drop him without penalty...it is by no means cheap year to year.

No. He left money on the table so the team would be able to use that free space to get players. They got crap. I mean, this is well known.

Where did you get the 18 million number from? His contract had very heavy incentives, year to year. I'm pretty sure he'll only count around 12 million to the Kap, since he didn't hit any escalators. Please let me know if I'm wrong.

Sadly I don't even dislike Kap nearly as much as many do...I am litterally just saying if he isn't a sure fire starter in the mind of the new coach with potential to be your franchise guy you can't in good conscience keep him at that dollar value. It's bad team management. But there is no room with most of these people for anything but kissing their ass and doting on their every thought and notion. Every player is garbage or a god and if you think might just be good or even ok...heaven forbid.

Pretty much 16 mill next year.

Truthfully as bad as his season was...I don't know exactly where he sits for next year. That contract was really complicated with a ton of moving parts. as bad as his season was he may have slid down to 12 or 14 for his cap figure to start the year. Incentives are weird like that since they can slide and be figured as bonuses etc. If he got down to around 10? That is probably where I would say you should keep him and see what happens.

Pretty much 16 mill next year.

So I guess we can presume that is as low as his cap figure can get regardless of how low his actual pay may go.
Why would anyone care how much any player makes if it doesn't hinder the team from signing players?

All of the "it's just not a smart business move" talk is hilarious. It's NOT YOUR business, it's your favorite football team. If his contract only effects the "business" side of the team, and not the product on the field, who cares...

Do you guys think that Baalke is going to sign "the Dream Team" like Philly a few years back? That worked out great for them, didn't it?
If Kap sucks, then dump the bum.

All I know is that given the right situation, he was a big factor in taking a football team to the Super Bowl.

To that point, I agree. We have so much salary cap space, Kaps salary is a non-factor next year. Just under 16 million is a very reasonable price for a legit starting QB. Based on his past history of success, I think its dumb to let him go after a sub par season and a half...
Will Kap Instagram his come back or tweet it, if he indeed comes back?

#7tormsComingBack

Haha...torm

Does anyone have that cartoon comic pic of Kaep pre-snap read of the play where he misses a wide open #7Torrey Smith?

the same people keep yelling from the mountain tops that Kaepernick is not worth 12mil or whatever....and some other posters after hearing that over and over, along with media "reports"/opinions that he will not be here next year bla bla bla...seem to believe it as well.

2015 Kap might not be worth that much, and some can argue about last year... even though far more worse QBs have been paid more.

But a QB who has won in the playoffs....is worth that much. Yall can hate Kap, or maybe you just don't believe in him....but that is the truth. You see these same Top QBs make the playoffs and win none... to maybe one playoff game.

if the new HC or GM feel that this 2015 had more to do with these inexperienced coaches and horrible Oline...than Kaepernick being the reason. Then I'm sure the new people in charge (including Baalke, who might be back..and had his little private convo with Colin) would rather pay Kaepernick regular starter money and see what they really have.....while still trying to see what they have in Gabbert and a draft pick (mid round)

and this is all without taking into consideration that Kaepernick was playing injured because the coaching/medical staff didn't take it serious.

Yall can call me a fanboy or the usual "Kap is gone" responses....and frankly I don't think it matters to Kaepernick if he is gone... but I'm just saying, just don't be too surprised if that is not the case.

this is not a post about what we should do...and you shouldn't respond with what you would do.... but more so what do you think the next Head Coach who needs to look out for himself, would do.

like I said... some can be mad, sad, etc..

some can have many emotional reactions...I'm just saying don't be surprised.

NFL Network (@nflnetwork) tweeted at 10:22 PM on Sun, Jan 03, 2016:
"There are some coaching candidates who believe Colin Kaepernick is salvageable & could once again be an elite QB."

Now Kap might have not been Elite those years...but he did help beat Elite QBs... Beat Brady in New England...beat Rodgers in Green Bay. Beat Brees in New Orleans..etc.

It affects who you can sign directly I don't understand how you don't get this unless you are being deliberately obtuse....6 Mil easily equals one roster player or the difference between signing another Devey or Pears vs a top ten talent.
Just saw in the Tomsula thread that there is a report of us getting a 3 mil. credit against the cap for Kap's injury and lost time. If that is accurate and his number would be 13mil next year...that isn't a bad number to strongly consider keeping him around. Let him compete with Gab and a rookie for the big job in camp next spring, especially if the new coach ends up being Chip.
