What? There isn't a single QB that can carry teams consistently. QB's need HELP! Did Joe and Steve do it all by themselves or did they get help? This notion that a QB has to carry the team is nonsense.

Kap needs to be surrounded by all pros to play well

not true jreff. Come on man.

Our D was LOADED, OL was clicking perfectly, Gore being Gore

He needs a perfect wave to ride

They were crap in the Superbowl and Kap balled.

So he plays great in Superbowls....means nothing if he sucks during the regular season

He balled in 2012 and played dmn well with no receivers except Boldin in 2013. What ever though.

I hear this often... be it about SuperBowl or playoffs... well it depends.. any QB can play well in a regular season game, but the playoffs are what separates these QBs in the NFL.

it goes back if you believe Kaepernick was the sole reason we didn't make it to the playoffs last year. Even playing in the NFC West, we still had a chance. If we beat the Rams at home (Goal-line controversy/fumble) could've changed the end of that regular season.

We've seen other Playoff/Super QBs struggle in the regular season...or heck miss the playoffs... it's not like they were given up on right after that.

And it's not like Kaepernick had a bad 2014 season.
@grantcohn

Colin Kaepernick just walked over to Nick Bellore on the #49ers sideline. Bellore walked away.

OMG KAEP MUTINY!!!!

G Cohen is D*Bag. Maybe it happened. Who cares. Some things aren't worth reporting, like a bellore-kaepernick soap opera. come on. Kap is a goner here, but these little tid bits demean the gossiper -- sorry -- reporter.

so when did he play like "crap" in the regular season? Enough to move on from a Playoff winning QB?

This season? for how many games did he play crap? and was there any other issues that could've caused him to play like crap? that is enough to move on from a QB that has won in the playoffs? with a clueless head coach and a OC that has sucked ALL of his NFL career?

again, Tom f**kING Brady was being retired by the fans and media last year when he had Devey blocking for him.....they replaced him and Brady was back and went and won the SuperBowl.

just one player had a big impact on Hall of Fame QB....and sure they might have had other issues...but as soon as they replaced him, it made a difference... just like when we had Martin and Devey replaced... Tiller and Brown made a difference, as far as pass blocking. Passes that Gabbert didn't quickly check down on.

I just hope the new coach keeps Kap around.

He is 4 years removed from basically playing in a high school offense where he made one read and then ran for a TD. Draft some linemen, give him some time to read the field and call plays that suit his abilities.

Is he Steve Young, or even Russell Wilson? No, but he could be super productive given the right setup. People thought Cam Newton was heading towards being a bust a couple years ago too. Now he is the league MVP and still had a brutal completion %.

I am not guaranteeing Kap is the answer, but I pray they don't cut him and then blow a draft pick on a QB that comes in and wastes our time for a couple seasons.

He didn't play good last year. Played worse this year. The downward trend is obvious. If he pulls an Alex and drops his salary to say 8-10 mill I wouldn't mind him staying and getting another shot. But we can't keep him at 16? mill to possibly start. We need the cash to improve now.
I know a lot of people around here are already celebrating CK's demise, but IMO, they should pump the brakes a little bit. Now that Tomsula has been fired, a new HC will be coaching this team next season and it's always possible that the new coach might want to work with Kaep.
a coach with a pass first mentality like payton would be intrigued by Kap's huge arm and mobility i would think

The complexity of the system will be the main issue. A new HC won't dumb down a system for a guy making that kind of cash.
