Both are marginal starters in the league and have very different styles. This comparison will never go away. Kap did well enough to take his job though, so the legendary Harbaugh disagrees with you.

Kaep never matched Smiths performances, he was handed the job
You can argue that Smith is a marginal starter
But Kaep will be out of the league soon, gone the way of Vince Young

Watch Tomsula come out with an entirely new Oline to try and give Garbbert the best chance to win. This jacksss has no problem throwin CK under the bus but letting everyone else slide. They talk about the young guys earning it in practice, did Gabbert earn it?

A team full of Rats, leaks an backstabbers

So let me get this straight. Are you seriously suggesting that Tomsula didn't bother to give Kaepernick much of a chance to win, but will now suddenly pull some aces out of his sleeve to help Gabbert which he had deliberately held back from Kaepernick?

Because if you are saying that - and that is what your post appears to say - you really do not understand professional sport.

Dude came off like he's more interested in protecting his fragile ego than getting the message that he's simply not cutting the mustard out on the football field. Thus far his comments only serve to prove his detractors right, that this guy just doesn't get it and likely never will.

Has Alex ever accounted for 444 yards and 4 TDs on his own? I think Alex is the one that's never matched Kaps performances.

You know you're a POS QB when Troy Smith was auditioned to send you packing, and a Vince Young clone did send you packing.

FTFY
The whole team needed a 'breather' from Kaep's play. Especially the receivers.

Not out of breath, but out of touch.

Everyone is criticizing Kap's comments. Look at the following and tell me how'd you react. Kap needs to clear the frustration from his mind, but it ain't going to happen as a 9er.

1.) Signs a team friendly deal and asks if this will help the organization retain and aquire talent. (Seems like he knows its a team game and he wanted the best chance for the team to win and be successful)

2.) One of the top coaches, your mentor and the person who publically had your back is chased out the door through back stabbing and leaks.

3.) One of the back stabbers with no NFL head coaching credentials is promoted to head coach.

4.) Talent walks out the door and cast offs are brought in as replacements (great way to help you out after you gave up salary and guarantees to maximize the talent on the field with you).

5.) Entires staff and schemes are subpar.

6.) You're made the scapegoat for the current problems and are being run out of town.

Kap will be successful elsewhere. No one can excel in this environment.

Which is ignoring that he was regressing before this season ever started and has been for awhile. I don't see him being anything other than inconsistent, he's way too up and down and has never developed the necessary awareness and decisiveness that is the hallmark of top QB's across the league. If you give him the best OL in football, a good running game and a good defense he'll be able to be a solid QB for you but nothing more. Its gotten to the point where its truly best for both parties to just simply move on.

And when Kaepernick goes elsewhere and he continues to be inconsistent because he struggles to read defenses, I'm sure the diehards will have plenty of excuses for as to why he's not getting it done there either.

Seriously, F Colin Kaepernick. I cannot stand that dweeb any longer. He's trying to pretend like he's not frazzled with this false bravado that everyone can see through,

The prior year is not ignored. The prior year is when all the toxicity really started making its way through everything. I believe Harbaugh by winning and through his actions was able to keep alot of it away from the players the first years, but last year it was too much and the same toxic environment that has been around prior to Harbaugh's arrival made it's way back with avengance. A healthy working environment is needed for people to excel and perform their jobs effectively. The 49ers don't have that environment, but Kap has displayed the qualities before. As with any young QB the consistency comes with experience. Fix the environment and Kap will perform at a much higher level.

It's really hard to figure out. I think defenses made adjustments, but did they really make one 3 years later that's rendered him useless even as a high school QB?. What do you think about him hesitating on throws he made regularly? Or getting happy feet when there's no pressure? Or throwing 10 yard passes in the dirt? Forget about defenses, this just isn't the same guy that took over. S*** this isn't even the same guy from last year. Is it really defenses that make you unable to connect on a wide open 10 yard pass?

Smart of the FO to get a per year deal since Kaep still developing mentally at the qb position
2.) One of the top coaches, your mentor and the person who publically had your back is chased out the door through back stabbing and leaks.
Harbaugh walked away with Michigan in his pocket
3.) One of the back stabbers with no NFL head coaching credentials is promoted to head coach.
He looks like Ron Jeremy king porn so I could totally understand you think he's stabbing someone in the back
4.) Talent walks out the door and cast offs are brought in as replacements (great way to help you out after you gave up salary and guarantees to maximize the talent on the field with you).
Torrey Smith not a cast off. Limited market to add decent players for what the team lost on retirees
5.) Entires staff and schemes are subpar.
Simplified specifically for Kaep
6.) You're made the scapegoat for the current problems and are being run out of town.
Played himself onto the bench from the Cards game on.

Kap will be successful elsewhere. No one can excel in this environment.

The flip side.

It speaks to a busted/pressing QB. JT should have never let him throw the 4 ints vs zona. He needed to be pulled in that game. Now you have a QB scared s**tless to make a mistake and it's like he stuck between gears.

Kap really does need to take control of his own career, but the organization did he no favors. He needed a QB guru with a track record and they gave him a DL coach and his same QB coach that was around during the start of the regression.

Well he had 378 yards and 4 TDs PASSING + 57 yard rushing against the Colts in a Wildcard game they should have won if his defense showed up.
