Early on this yr i suggested that kap sit the bench. My thots were that maybe ,if he sat the pine, he could see the Qb position, the D crashing the LOS, the WR routes.....maybe he would see them differently. When kap went bad he went really bad...which as you may recall, was an extension of 2014 extending into 2015. But nope, it didn't happen, kap stayed in, got consistently worse, and then capped everything with his " I don't care, sit me or trade me" statement of anger/humiliation/ or whatever you call it. That statement was the overt glimpse of the immature kap, the kid with everything who was basically insecure. And as the season went along there was the kap who let his little head do all the thinking. How he managed to move in on Aldon's ex GF is stroke of stupidity impossible to quantitate. It did, however, garner the predictable results... split the team wide open. First of all messing with someone's ex GF is unwise...there are tons of women out there. But messing with ALDON"s GF is just colossally stupid. That is more like sticking your hand in a meat grinder to find out what happens.
So beside kap's bad play, poor decisions in gametime, it has spilled over into "off the field " issues. In preseason, there was also an unsavory episode in Miami (or someplace) when Lockette and kap got mixed up with a passed out woman in her room. Geez, that falls below the level of a mature guy. Little head was thinkng then too. So while there are kap defenders and kap doubters, the "kid" has done nothing to show wisdom and prudence off the field. HIs judgement has left a lot to be desired. Picking at kap's odd mannerisms, tats, hats, clothing, dress code....those could all be excused if he were tom brady. Unfortunately for kap, he isn't. And hence this combination of disastrous play, odd ball to downright stupid issues re: women....they seem to have a common thread. Kap is immature, and nobody could dispute that. If you are Ben rottenburger when he had his "posse:, he could weather the storm because his qB skills got him a pass. Kap doesn't have those skills, so when he goofs up , it becomes a big issue.
Point is kap's poor QBing plus his somewhat different personality and unwise behaviour have compounded kap's situation, when he has no great QBing in recent times to fall back on. Yes, kap should sit but it should have been a month ago. A bench rest may have helped him see the entire game better, and esp the Qb position. Now, however, with his confidence shot, his play atrocious, i am not so sure sitting the bench will help much. I truly hope it does, but signs on and off the field point to otherwise.
I would NOT trade kap UNTIL we find out if blaine is just a lesser version of kap or is he, by chance, better at getting the ball out faster and more accurately. If that is the case, then after a series of games where blaine looks good....ok, then you can trade kap. Right now, however, we have no idea if blaine can even receive the snap or not...so talk of trading kap now, is grossly overdone. First is necessary to see what blaine can do, and what sitting kap results in. It may help him see the game differently....i sure hope so....but if not, then we should move ahead and get him gone.
And remember, all this is with the background of the invisible OL, the incredibly weak coachng staff, the loss of 9 all pro starters, defection of AD and Borland, plus loss of our RBs. In effect, even when healthy, our RBs were ineffective because Ds crowded the LOS making running game impossible. If kap couldn't pass, the Ds ignored him and concentrated on wiping out our running game...which pretty well describes our status as of now.
So cross you fingers for both QBs, and hope both do well. We have to have one of them come thru for us, and if kap can't greatly improve from sittiing on the bench, then we have no earthly reason to keep him. As for blaine, we can only hope he plays well enough to help us limp thru the next 18 mos, so we can rebuild our OL, one DT, one OLB passrusher, one or more starting RBs, one, possibly two of the 6 top flite CBs hitting the market at season's end, and , of course, an entire cleaning out of the inept coaching staff.
It would be helpful if gab or kap could help us thru that.....we need a franchise QB, but need to get every other gaping hole filled first. One of our two current Qbs needs to help us out and bridge QB us to the point where we can get our franchsise guy.
#7StormComing was prescient. I suspect this isn't the way kap had it drawn up tho. No question he was right, however. But it wasn't a storm, it was a hurricane....worse, yet...it is a long way from being over. God help the 49ers and us.

One thing for sure, this benching will define the character. Haven't seen his first press conference since the decision was made but does he take it like a man, like Alex did? Or does he fold?

great point,, alex was a professional,, i always said when we were in the midst of the ck change,,,, both quarterbacks handled it with style and grace.. i have always said,,, young and montana could have learned a thing or two from alex and ck in that regards. montana and young divided the locker room , the coach did not handle it well and the two quarterbacks used an eager media to push their case.. we saw none of that with ck and alex,, that was class

Niners OL ranked 16th in pass blocking. This confirms what I felt, in watching them, that the OL wasn't good, but wasn't as terrible as those who want to make it the scape goat make it out to be. Kap just is just playing terribly. Few have the luxury of playing behind a line that gives them all day. Look at the Seahawks.....Russell Wilson still finds a way to move them, with the worst OL in the league, and a recieving corp that is average at best.

There we have it, the worst O-line in the league actually belongs to the Seattle Seahawks (and not the 9ers like some people will have you believe here) and yet at the very least when compared to the 9ers, Russell Wilson is so much better than Krapnpick. No more Krapexcuses.

Outsiders rank the 9ers OL as 32 in run blocking and 30th in pass protection. 11/3/2015

That isn't cause he didn't study. Something is going on mentally with him. No doubt about it. Have no idea what it is, but he is all screwed up in the head. But to say he doesn't work on his craft, or study, that has been proven false time and time again. Whether that translates to good play on the field is another thing. But Kap puts in the work. Sometimes you just fail.

If he lacks the ability to look left and see a wide open WR and be smart enough to throw it to him then I am not sure if he is smart enough to play QB in the NFL.

You know it isn't that simple. He is basically on auto-pilot right now. Just do what they tell me. Dude really should go to a psychiatrist. Get his head right. In the end he may just not be good enough to handle everything that goes with being an NFL QB. But I believe he will get one more shot this year and he better make something of it.
