But it will all be revealed in the next game or two. If Gabbert is blown out of the water then perhaps Kaepernick is better than people think and the line worse. If Gabbert starts completing passes and leading scoring drives (maybe even a TD from the RZ) then Kaepernick is damaged goods and has been ruined by Harbaugh. Or these coaches are terrible and Roman was a genius...which seems unlikely but who knows? It will all come out in the wash.

I don't believe this. Backup QB always gives a team a spark. I have no doubt that Blaine will perform pretty well against Atlanta and people here willl say "I told you so" but he will get exposed. You can quote me on that.

Agreed - Falcons won't quite know how to game plan against him.

But by the second game the tape will be out.

No matter how much sense you talk to the remaining Kap homers they won't listen. They are like the grandmother of the drive by shooter caught red handed who will say, "He is a good boy, he wouldn't hurt anyone, the police are framing him." PFF is a joke, their pass blocking grades are based heavily on sacks and a slow thinking pocket presence dummy (Kaepernick) will get sacked 3 times as much in the same situation as someone good in the pocket. If you want an example of sacks not being on the O-line look up the 2014 Redskins. Behind the same line RG3 took 33 sacks in 7 games (His pocket awareness is the same as Kaepernick's) Colt McCoy took 17 sacks in 4 games. Kirk Cousins took 8 sacks in 5 games. Colt and RG3 were getting sacked at almost 3x that of Kirk, and Cousins even had more attempts per game that the other two. Kaepernick is a sack magnet, he drags down any line he plays behind.

Hey Bob. It's over. Kaepernick's on the bench and we all know he's damaged goods. Take a knee and calm down. No need to continue your touchdown dance.

Devey was inactive for the worst loss of the Bellicheck era. The Patriots' O-line was horrendous last year, even worse than ours. Guys who were top tier were missing routine plays. Like when Nate Solder didn't even touch Thamba Hali who came around and had a strip sack. But, they found a way to correct that mistake after that game and began rolling. Their O-line issues were about more than Devey - although he didn't help matters. Oh, and this was also the game where they questioned Bellicheck about benching Brady, because he pulled Brady out late in the game a la George Seiftert to Young in 94.

You are right, the Pats did find a way to fix things and get rolling, they started running the ball more effectively and letting Brady call more run plays at the LOS - one thing Kaepernick has struggled with. You could see it on film, that A. Smith would check plays, then we would have effective runs against run stopping fronts. I have yet to see that from Kaepernick.

They also started utilizing some 2 RB sets to let Brady get the ball out quicker and stopped relying on WR's getting open because their receivers were having trouble getting open. Gronk was still recovering from knee surgery and they weren't using Kembrall Thompkins at all. When Thompkins came in, he was able to get a couple big catches down the field and it started to open things up(think of the game against NO). We should already have that with TS. But, when I watched the film of the game yesterday, the Rams challenged us to throw the ball accurately down the sidelines. They played a bump and run single high safety with man-coverage most game, spying Kaep. It was very effective.

It just goes to show you how the GOAT* still struggled. To be honest, if Kaep checked into run plays more, would they really help? Have you seen our line's grades in run blocking? They're putrid.

I think the problem here is Kaep is playing badly but his play is a symptom of a bigger issue.

It's not just checking into a run play, it's changing where the designed run play should go. For example, in the Seattle game, we had a toss left play called, the Seahawks saw it coming and overloaded that side, instead of checking the play to the backside, Kaep ran with it. Not saying it would've been super successful, but probably would've been better than the -2 we got. Or, in the power run game, shifting a run frim one Gap or side when the defense presents an unfavorable alignment, like an over alignment-saw that last season on film.

Probably a safe bet that the @49ers will release Kap before 4/1/16 when his salary becomes guaranteed.

A trade or a release, he's gone eitherway after this season.

Matt Miller ‏@nfldraftscout 13h13 hours ago
Let's not act like Kap wasn't good. He just failed to develop to match the rate defenses were figuring him out.

Which I think is accurate, he played well in the beginning, defenses began to take away what he liked to do and force him into uncomfortable situations, such as consistently having to read the defense, move around in the pocket and throw against man coverage. He never really made those adjustments.

I've defended Kap for years. I'm over it. It has nothing to do with his appearance, or his tattoos. All based on play.

Kind of where I'm at. I was hoping he'd be able to fulfill his potential, that he could develop the necessary acuity and awareness, it just never happened.

How to play Kap:

Cover 3 with spy underneath. Leave the flats wide open. Dunzo.

WTF?
Blame Kap all you want, but WHEN he gets traded to a stable organization with great coaches and a real offensive line, he'll thrive. He was set up to fail because Jed York sees him as a remnant of Jim Harbaugh and wanted him gone.

When Kap balls out elsewhere, everyone will know what a joke this entire organization is from top to bottom.

It's about time, he has not played well since 13-14 season. And he's only had a handful of truly good games. He's just gotten worse every year. Don't know what happened to this guy, but you can only give a guy so long to turn it around.

You do remember that whole Alex Smith situation, right? Stunk it up for years. Got benched and was halfway out the door. Then came back to lead us with a fumble of the SB. lol

There is a bit of a parallel there, except that Kaepernick appears to have hit his zenith two years ago and is now sliding backward. Smith was never close to a quality QB because of circumstances, however, once Jimmy Raye was fired and Mike Johnson took over, he rose up and has had a good career now.

I do agree that putting CK on the bench for a while is the best hope right now.

So Kaep and the rest of the other qb mentioned must have a playoff caliber team to be good at playing qb. Like common core math.

I didn't really make myself clear..I was referring to the report that only one person texted him after being bench. There really does seem to be a decide in the locker room with kap and the team.
