1. JJ Watt is a better pass rusher.

2. Aldon is not married.

"If we keep treating the guy like a child.." Huh? I'm pretty sure Aldon will be the first to tell you he was acting like a child when he was doing the things that resulted in multiple arrests in rapid succession. Since his last incident, he's been fine but what does that have to do with the treatment he received for his exact actions? He checked himself in to rehab, that's a sign that even he recognized his need to improve and grow up.

As for being punished unfairly for issues un-related to the NFL, my question to you is: What constitutes an NFL related issue? PEDs? What other thing could a player do off the field that would warrant being punished by his employer?

49ers have no right to judge? What are you talking about? The NFL suspended him, not the 49ers. The 49ers are a BRANCH of the NFL, meaning that they comply to whatever Goodell and the "Shield" mandates them to do. If they say a player is suspended, he's suspended. Nothing Jed, Trent, Harbaugh, Aldon's Mom or anyone can do about it. Rules are rules and Aldon broke the rules. You're acting as if he's getting some kind of further punishment for something he didn't do, which is completely not true.

I hate to break it to you but if you are a human being, you have a right to judge whoever and whatever you want. There's no authority on what a person chooses to analyze or even criticize, as tacky as it may be at times.

He proved he was the best pass rusher in the NFL through 2011-2012, J.J. Watt over took him at the end of 2012 and through 2013...and we all know what happened in 2014. He signed a 5-year contract and you mean to tell me the team should pay him for performing great for 40% of his tenure? That's foolish.

If he gets back to 2012 form (which I am pretty confident he will), then the team will most likely extend his deal mid-season, no sooner.
There's an Aldon thread for this
Not to mention its a horrible thread

I said all last year that when he came back we needed to re-sign him when the "stock was low". Luckily for our negotiating tactics he didn't play great, so the the "stock" is still pretty low. If we go into the season with no new deal for Aldon and he puts up a 15+ sack season, which if he's healthy he probably will, he's going to cost us too much money to re-sign. Baalke really is f**king this whole situation up if he doesn't have a new deal in place for Aldon before the season starts.

This isn't Madden video games where you're the Owner and you get to just re-sign players by pressing a button. Players have just as much say in signing a restructured deal or a new extension as the GM does in initiating the offer.

Perhaps you are forgetting the fact that he was so drunk in his car that he was found crashed up against a tree with his foot still on the accelerator and completely passed out.

Perhaps you are forgetting that he fired several shots at his home to disperse a crowd.

Perhaps you are forgetting that he was suspended for 9 games last year for owning illegal firearms.

Perhaps you are forgetting that the 49ers picked up his 9 MILLION dollar team option AFTER all of those incidents and the rework of his contract doesn't take a dime of that money away if he keeps his nose clean.

Aldon can be a great player...but painting this as the FRANCHISE messed up in this regard is ludicrous.

Yes. And we already have an Aldon Smith thread.
