They played a team that was terrific against the run but had no pass rushers...so our pass protection was really good coupled with the game plan (short passing game + 32 rushes) and they struggled against the run. It is what it is. Credit where credit is due but context is important here.

Again if they start putting up similar performances against good pass rushing teams while we're still throwing Kyle's normal intermediate passing game successfully 35+ times, then I'm getting excited!

I mean the usual 8+ Y/A is damn near the top of the league, which is great but not always gonna be the case. TB looked pretty damn good vs the Panthers (who always have a solid line). Shaquil Barrett had three sacks last night & Vea was getting constant push (dude is a beast). Newton was also held to 6.5 Y/A

Certainly Tampa's defense is better than anyone expected. A credit to Bowles who a lot of us like.

Let's hope we see improvement from our guys this week. If we can keep both lines healthy and improving we will have many more wins this season.

That DL is legit. Imagine if they had a healthy JPP to.

Definitely. It's encouraging either way. But JG's career under Kyle is 8+...he thrives in that intermediate zone. Once he gets fully back and Kyle starts unleashing him more, it'll climb back up. But the Bucs defense is no joke now. What a difference a great coordinator makes in one off season. It was especially impressive watching it live.

Not sure they do. Vea and Suh together is better than Atkins. Geno's good, don't get me wrong, but it's not like we're going from scrubs to all-stars. I'd rank their D-lines pretty close.

For sure...Vea and Suh? The Rams Donald is great. But with Suh...unbeatable (except by BB in the SB) . Now with Vea and Suh, it is the same effect. It isn't 1+ 1 = 2 it is more like 2 squared = 4. That front 3 seemed like 4 tough dudes all game. And Suh + Vea...hard to imagine a tougher DL than that. Glad we got them early.

I don't mean to sell Cincy short, but ...that Tampa DL is as tough as it gets.

I thought our OL sucked but they allowed 1 hit on Jimmy G... That same defense wrecked the Panthers line.

That's really weird....

They got 3 sacks and 6 QB hits on Cam last night.

Wait, you're saying TB has no edge rushers, but weren't you upset we didn't get Nassib last year on cutdown day? I thought you wanted Barrett in FA?

I take that back. I forgot about Nassib and that's a testament to Staley(?) and a quick passing game and 32 rushes. Panthers didn't watch our game (plan) obviously.

realists . the o line is the same as it was post season last year. pre draft. pre free agency. in camp. during pre season and here in the regular season. now we had better hope the line run blocks better this week than last week. we just all assumed that would be the one thing they will do well this year

As NC said, context. I'm jazzed that our OLine performed better than how Carolina's did - apparently, (didn't watch the buc-panther game) but lots of credible folks here said the buc DLine did a way better job on Carolina OLine than they did on our OLine - that makes my day! then of course all those PFF stats that say our OLine is pretty good.

So I think everything I said about the OLine before the regular season began is coming true. In other words, this is a good OLine. I'm not saying Great yet (like the super bowl OLines) but it's not bad, and as long as they stay reasonably healthy (maybe a ding here or there for a game or two) they will be ok and they **WILL** get better simply by just having more reps together. That's the nature of Kyles ZBS. That also leads me to believe that the youngsters on the roster now, and on the practice squad - have a good chance of developing like how Shon Colman developed last year. By the end of the year, my hope is that the youngsters show their stuff in relief and we can see how they have progressed throughout the year.
