I'm sure that's why they feel more comfortable there; just saying he hasn't been training there this year so to just step in at G on the fly, probably isn't too idea even if he's had a bit of experience there in the past...as opposed to Toran who has split all his reps all off season between both G spots and C. Too bad he sucked because that's an important IOL role.
I mean he's been in Kyle's scheme (2016) hey he's a backup nothing more. I'm all for getting any sort of upgrade anywhere

I know this for sure. The one thing every 9er fan can agree on. Ha

During the course of the PS, Daniel Brunskill caught my eye a few times. Seemed to move out well on running plays, albeit against 2s and 3s.

So, I did some research on him and immediately I found a Joe Staley connection. Until his senior year at San Diego State, Brunskill played TE. In his first year as an OT, he made second-team All-Mountain West - not a power conference but his development showed.

"Very good athlete for the position. Has the footwork and twitch to switch from block to block in opposite gaps. Excellent radar on the second level with the ability to find and land making his secure block. Has initial burst out of stance with potential to cross-face on the NFL level. Flexible and agile. Improving with arm extension at the punch. Has feet to mirror edge speed. (emphasis mine) Diverse athlete in high school with a background in wrestling, lacrosse, and volleyball. A tremendous student with work ethic teams want." (Combine report)

His only noted weakness was a need to add weight and lower body strength in order to avoid blocking stalemates. ( He came to the combine at 273 pounds. The team now lists him at 300) It looks like he was worked on that with 25 pounds more weight.

"Teams could decide to use him as a big blocking tight end, but his best shot to make it in the NFL will likely be as a tackle for a zone-scheme team." (Combine)

Sounds like a good fit and worth spending time developing. He could be that swing tackle we need.

I apologize for missing the meeting. It is hard for me to keep up sometimes.

You're a mod. No excuses. We have the same high expectations for you as we do the players. Champions only.

This almost looks like Ryan Pope's scouting report.

Yep, same school. Same TE background.

The one difference that stood out to me is Brunskill has much better feet. A 6'7" OT without good foot speed is a liability.
I wanna read this about Garoppolo and the OL this time next year.

Think they are developing Ryan Pope into Joe Staley's replacement, and plan to develop Brunskill and Reynolds into two quality guards
Our Oline was like a car that got totaled and needed a overhaul and Kyle gave it a tune-up instead.
