Based on this years inactivity, it's just as likely ShanaLynch have been playing golf all morning.

The Browns have invested a s**t ton of $$ and picks into their OL over the past 5 years and they are still having issues despite having picked some good prospects that people here would have been psyched to have.
Austin Corbett was an early 2nd round pick a year ago, 33rd pick in the draft, an expected 10 year starter and they are already talking about replacing him in Cleveland because he couldn't block a drunk, one legged hooker from hopping past him into church on a Sunday.

Finding OL is tough. There are about 32 teams that could stand to improve and practically everyone is one bad injury away from having major issues. There just aren't enough good linemen nowadays to go around. OL, especially tackles, were some of the most bust-proof of positions 20 years ago but nowadays that is no longer true. You could draft well regarded prospects in the 1st and 2nd round for three years straight and still have a crap OL, especially when picking out of the Top 10.
So when I hear people talking about "well all they needed to do was use a few more high draft picks and everything would be just dandy", I'm not so sure. Teams are missing on OL all over the place and I think the main reason why is that many colleges are no longer properly developing them.
It is something that Mark Schlereth and many others have been harping on for years. When Bill Polian signed up for the AAF, his intended goal was to make it a place where you could properly develop QBs and OL, both of which aren't getting taught right in the college game right now.
This team currently has 3 former 1st rounders and an early 2nd as part of their starting lineup. Talent is really not an issue. I don't doubt that they want to further upgrade the position but it also comes down to who is available.
Should they have taken an OL instead of Bosa? Samuel? Which OL should they have gone for instead of Hurd? Its not just about stacking the position with bodies but finding talent that you feel really good about. Last year there was a major run on OL from the mid first to the early 2nd. By the time they got up to draft Pettis, basically any starter quality prospects were gone. This year it was a lot of the same so you were either skipping out on Bosa or Samuel if you wanted to bring in someone that potentially might be a day one starter which at least in the short term is the only thing that really matters.
I believe that OL will get addressed more as time goes on and they come across OL prospects that they like a lot more than those at other positions. Mostly it hangs on Richburg who was one of the better pass blocking centers in football prior to coming to the 49ers. If he's healthy for most of the season and plays like he did before then this entire OL is going to look a whole heck of a lot better than many might be expecting. They made a huge investment in him like Atlanta made into Mack while Shanahan was there. If Richburg gets right then suddenly the OL issues are a lot less pressing. Time will tell.

sounds like a great 3 day weekend

I really dont see the point of swapping our crappy backups for different crappy backups.

I mean, are you saying there isn't a single player out there not better than Garland, Skule and Brunskill? LOL

Yeah that's pretty much what I'm saying. I dont think theres a single team as deep on their Oline as we are deep on our DLine.
Now that's not the same as me saying that Garland Skule and Brunskill are good, but I dont think theres teams out there dropping starter quality olinemen. Teams arent even going to drop quality backups. If there were players so much better than our crappy olinemen out there they're not getting released by their teams.
I think you guys just focus in on the Niners so much and dont take into account the state of offensive linemen in this league.
