I've got all my fingers and toes crossed that it works out like that.

Staley does what Staley does(when not facing Ware), Tomlinson and Cooper play up to their draft position, Richburg ends up our version of Alex Mack and McGlinch locks down RT.

They have six OL with experience: Staley, Richburg, Cooper, Gilliam, Tomlinson, and Person. These guys are over 25 years of age and have at least 4 years experience. Five rookies are on their current roster (ESPN site). Then they have mid-guys like Garnett, Murphy, Williams Jr., Magnuson, Lauderdale, and Flynn. Not sure they are looking too hard for a so-so OG off waiver wires with so much youth. A starter maybe, but how likely is that? Not very.

I'm actually fine with what they have and want to see how Shanahan molds them into an effective OL. My guess: Staley/Tomlinson/Richburg/Cooper/Gilliam. that would give them an experienced group to start the year. Cooper played RG in Arizona, Cleveland and SF...should be comfortable there.

Your OL looks about right!

McG will be severely tested right out of the Gate.

I can't recall watching Cooper play but if the Cowboys used him he had to be good.

Been having him penciled in at RG all along. As long as he doesn't have a setback, hopefully he's 100% for week1 and has a solid year for us. My money is on he does. He's in his prime and has improved as the years have gone on.

The entire starting OL looked lousy, including Celek whiffing on that one block. I would expect them to keep getting better.

We need to have patience with the OL. Lot of new faces. Only Staley and Tomlinson have ever played next to each other. Everyone else from Richberg on out were in their first game together. The OL depends more on chemistry and familiarity than any other group. I don't expect them to be real effective until the season starts. Cooper/Garnett have to get healthy and McG needs to get used to the game and whoever is playing next to him.

Give it time, but they don't have a lot of it. These guys CAN'T be missing simple assignments in the zone blocking scheme. The run game was destroyed because these guys didn't know where to be at all. When you're seeing two OL blocking a backside LB and the DT is creaming the RB... you know more work is ahead, A LOT of it.

I don't know if there will be major steps, but seriously, that has to be some of he worst run blocking I've seen in a while (and I watch a lot of college ball). Pass blocking needs some work too. Somewhat better, but not finishing above .500 better.

That falls on CJ more than the OL. That many tipped throws is usually related to issues the QB is having.


Dude was hesitating too much or throwing it straight at defenders. There were several passes where he had a clean pocket and had it tipped or gunned it at the ground.

Watch the first series again from the 1s. Jimmy had decent time and space to throw in all but 1 pass attempt. Jimmy held on too long and took hits. This wasn't like last season where there was no time at all.
