Mike McGlinchey would be RG.

Credibility alert.

To blues defense around draft many predicted a RT or RG in nfl for him.

Cooper will be our starting RG. Give the big fellah some time to dust off some rust. He will surprise a lot of people this year and earn him a contract extension next year. Big Coop!!

Man, I hope you are right!

i agree. some questionable moves by lynch and company , hope they know something we don't but hard to fathom after what AA, ward , and garnett has done so far with their careers.

Returning after 17 starts as one unit. No comparison. They SHOULD play well together.

We have a brand new OL.

They had those guys in August last year and as a result, were able to build over a year together.

Us? We can't go a day with healthy G's.
This is going to be a problem.

I get what he's saying, but when you factor in a KS scheme that takes time, a rookie RT, a new C and a new RG.....I think it's going to take time. We shall see how this next month goes

They run the same scheme but yeah, he's kind of implying if you don't have the talent there in August, it can only snowball from there. Now we're hoping the right side of our line holds up. Hoping.
I think Mcglinchy will be fine. There will be a learning curve but I think he'll be fine. Harris Barton didn't take that long to get accustomed to the NFL as a rookie. As for the Right Guard, worst case scenario Magnuson starts at RG and I'm sure they can find some guard depth on cut down day.

we were told and they know who they are... quote,., if you guys can not see how better and deeper out o line is compared to last year you guys are trolls.. i must be a troll.
Wed be all right if Garnett was healthy. I didn't think Garnett would reinjure his knee. The RG position isn't towards the QB'S blind side so from a pass protection point of view it's an easier position to fill. So I'm not too worried about Garnett and Cooper being dinged.
When real games start our guards are going to be exposed. Really wish we had a legit vet beside mcglinchey

I was hoping that legit vet would be Josh Sitton but he decided to "retire" back home in MIA. Now I'm hoping Cooper is that legit vet guard that can be a solid stop gap. Cooper needs to be because I think Person is the new Beadles and Garnett can't practice.
What annoys me at this time (obviously we won't know until the season) is our main objectives were to solidify the o line for our qb and improve the defensive pass rush. Now I like Warner and we have depth in the secondary to develop but if the o-line sucks kiss these double digit win predictions this season goodbye. We should have drafted more o-line to work with.

It's actually been a tad longer than that and we knew going into this season guys were coming off of injury. Again, when I look at the turnover this team has had to make in just 2 seasons, it's been other-worldly. Not making excuses, but simple analysis - the Rams are at a much different place in their window/build than we are.

For sure...but you also have to throw talented resources at the OL and that's what they did as Baldy was noting and now they're even better because of continuity.

In our case, we went cheap at G and were hoping two pan out to at least average. We don't have that security or the players to build on in August. We just have "faith" rather than security at this juncture.

All that said, it's still somewhat early so perhaps a guy like Cooper solidifies the OL and helps the rookie McGlinchey acclimate quicker. But the reality is we're just a few weeks away from playing meaningful games so it's a real cause for concern.

Yahtzee.
