PFF offensive line rankings now.

14. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
2017 pass-blocking efficiency: 79.0

Best individual PBE: Daniel Kilgore, 97.1

The 49ers offensive line fielded the most-improved unit in football in 2017, as the team improved their pass-blocking efficiency from 71.7 in 2016 (29th of 32 teams) to 79.0 in 2017. One major reason for this was the outstanding play by veteran left tackle Joe Staley, who allowed just 24 pressures all season and ended the year with a PBE of 96.7, ranking 10th among tackles. Going into the 2018 season, the 49ers will certainly hope that the addition of rookie tackle Mike McGlinchey will help bolster the line, as McGlinchey allowed just 16 pressures on 411 pass-block snaps throughout his final season at Notre Dame.

Hell yeah. Add Richburg and Cooper who are upgrades over Kilgore/Fusco...2nd year of the system. Well lose some pass pro with Mcglinchey instead of brown, but we'll get better in the screen passing game and improve in the run game as well most definitely.

Also having Jimmy for a full season will help with pass pro by being able to get rid of the ball faster and moving better in the pocket compared to what we had last year with hoyer and CJ holding onto the ball for too long at times, etc. Can't wait for the play action to go into full force with having leads allowing more of a balanced and mysterious attack.

Yeah, got to love those mysterious attacks. I'm jacked.

Let's f**king punch motherf**kers in the mouth.

I'm all f**king in... Shanny knows kirkie, lets punch those f**ks in the mouth in their house week 1 and set the tone

Mike Singletary would be so fired up if he read that!

LOL...yeah, more like finesse those f**ks in the mouth in their house.

This is great. Since we paid him more he will play better.
So Cooper, Garnett and Person will battle for the RG position.

Looks like my man Garnett may be the odd man out because Person can play C.
would it make sense to move Tomlinson to RG--next to the rookie RT--since he's the most experienced guard on the roster in shanny's system? I'd go with Staley, Cooper/Garnett, Richburg, Tomlinson, MM.

I agree. I think if Garnett can't show his speed and movement in Training Camp, he might be traded. Hope he sticks, he's a young guy and has a team friendly contract.

So that's the 4th spot on OL on lock now. So...Garnett, Cooper, Person and Magnuson fighting for 1 starting job (RG). Wow, this is going to be a dawg fight. Very interesting Lehhss Gooo Niners!!!

If Garnett doesn't make the 53, is he trade bait?

at this point I bet we could only get a day 3 draft pick. It's worth keeping him around 1st.
The line is a big question mark imo. I have no idea how they will turn out. Tomlinson must be impressing heavily to get that extension... I never thought anything of him, but as a stop gap so lets see.

I hope for Garoppolo's sake they are amazing lol
The OLine is still my biggest concern.

If Tomlinson picks up where he left off last season we'll be a lot better.

Garnett & the other guys will really need to step up.

They should bring in Kevin Gogan to be a How to be Mean & Nasty Consultant.

I still didnt like that they traded brown but it is what it is.
Win or lose, Garnett will not be cut imo. If he's traded now that's a different story.

We have almost all first/second rounders in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

We should be deadly up front in the coming years!

Offensive Linemen:
Mike McGlinchey - 1st round
Joshua Garnett - 1st round
Joe Staley - 1st round
Laken Tomlinson - 1st round
Jonathan Cooper - 1st round
Weston Richburg - 2nd round

I know this is the O-line thread but look at our D-line:
Arik Armstead - 1st round
DeForest Buckner - 1st round
Solomon Thomas - 1st round
Jeremiah Attaochu - 2nd round
Earl Mitchell - 3rd round

Sometimes I think fans and front office people lack patience with the development of young players. Harbaugh showed that if you raise them right or redirect them you can make diamonds out of these talented, young athletes. I think Shanahan has the leadership qualities & football mind to do the same but it will take time.

We have the players and coaches, now we just need time & patience to allow them to grow.
