They were nothing more than lumps of coal en route to the QB and that wasn't an exaggeration. Sure jimmmyG got the ball gone, but still got pasted, no thanks to our 3 turnstiles in the middle of the OL. Kilgore, now gone, thankfully, has a huge replacement in Richburg. So no more turnstile up hiway 1. Our OGs now have to show us. And i hope what they show is promising. Thing is nobody knows but kyle and JL know a lot more than we do...and i hope that JL's assessment is correct. I hope...

Why do you keep posting these rediculous novels about Jimmy getting blasted as you say??

It simply isn't true.

Cooper played LG for Dallas. He played pretty well prior to injury.

I hope you are correct, and truly wish that to be so. Sure QBs get hit, and frequently , hit a lot. For whatever reason, SF OL play has not instilled confidence during the last yrs, with 4 different HCs and a GM i believe most were happy to see leave. Also as you have pointed out before, JL/KS both know their jobs and tenure depend on keeping JimmyG on the field...erect, preferably. So your earlier point, that they wouldn't disregard QB protection when their jobs depended on JG being healthy...l agree with. As for the hits jimmy has taken during the last 5 games, two of which were with teams in the playoff hunt where it was very advantageous for them to win...those games, the hitting was fierce and the Defenses seemed to be QB hunting or at least "hurting" to say the least. They wanted those games and if that meant slamming into our QBs after the ball was long gone, so be it.

On our side of the ball, kilgore was awful in protecting whoever was back there....Hoyer, CJ , or JG. He is now, thankfully, gone. The OGs, tho, remain. Some fans have posted that Laken got better in pass pro as the season wore on. Garnett didn't play, Magnus played very little, cooper we haven't seen, and Beadles i don't expect to make the cut. But what you saw and what i saw this past yr , esp the last 5 JG games, was the same thing. We each interpreted it differently. Sure Jimmy is going to get hit. That's football. But the plays i remember were when he got whacked and the center fo the OL did nothing to even slow down the passrush. So i will leave it as i agree to disagree with you on this one very essential point. I sincerely hope you are correct and i am being overly sensitive to the pasting JG got. But after living thru the glory yrs with the GOAT Joe, and then having a 20 yr void of useless to feckless to downright awful QBs, mixed in with a few who were somewhat decent, the 20 yr wait makes me super sensitive to seeing our FRANCHISE get hammered due to krapt OL play. And we didn't just get a FR QB. We got a QB who could literally rewrite the record books.

Sure it is a very brief slice of football hx...5 games. But in those 5 games i saw QB play that just flat out surpassed anything seen around these parts in decades. It is that very reason i want him protected and having stiffs at OG is not my idea of how to protect him. We got this wonderful gift....after 20 yr of searching and waiting. He is here now, and i am ecstatic, like virtually most other 9er diehards. But seeing him get tagged because of lousy interior line play is just inexcusable. Sure he'll get hit. But when he gets creamed, that's when I wonder why. Why isn't he getting maximal protection? I don't want to make QB predictions based on just a handful of games. But from what little i have seen, i don't want to see JG get one more hit than absolutely necessary, and to date that's what i have seen. Not every play, but certainly in every game. All that does is hasten his exodus from here way before he has had a chance to show what he can do over an entire season...and hopefully, seasons.

As for writing ridiculous novels about QB hits...i just don't see it your way. Maybe i want to see him play for us a long, long time. And protecting a guy like that does not seem to be anything but good sense, both now and in the long run. JUst because you don't see it the same way i do is fine. But my opinion as to what i saw is very different from yours. Just because you say something doesn't make it right. It is just a very different perception of what we both see. I'll leave it at that. But what you say has no more validity than what i state to be fact. The fact you don't like it....well, that's something you will just have to deal with. Your opinion doesn't bother me one whit...yet, I think you are wrong. We just disagree.

i respect steve but i think doc is right. jimmy took alot of hits and we are lucky. the guards better step up. joe needs to be his usual self. the kid needs to prove worthy of his draft pick and our center needs to be what we hope he is.you know teams know if they can get to jimmy and cut the head off the rattlesnake.... that is a compliment!! then thier chances of beating us are very very good. no offense to cj

I'm talking an overview of embarrassing quarterback play.

The gif was meant to accentuate that.

Hoyer made an honest mistake of thinking Kyle called the Statue of Liberty play and must have been upset when nobody was there to grab the ball.

McGlinchy is new, Richburg, Garnett is back. You have to give them time and the reps to get themselves familiar with each other. You can't really compare last season with this season in terms of stats. Now, if in the 3rd game of the pre-season the starting O LIne gives up 4 pressures and 2 sacks, then I'll be concerned. But as of right now, on paper, they look good. In reality, until we see them play together, nobody really knows anything. In the meantime, folks like CC and Sus like scaring themselves silly. I don't mind that, but to me it's a choice between going to the haunted house attraction and scaring themselves silly, or going to the beach on a nice hot sunny day and enjoying the views.

I still think we're pretty light at OG:

Cooper
Tomlinson
Garnett
Magnuson(?)

Although there will be a competition, I'm wondering again if we don't sign another vet to come in an help push this group who have a lot of question marks.

yeah that does seem light. They must like those 4 a whole lot.

Yeah, I could see that...another late pickup like Fusco, Barnes, etc.
