This offseason will test Shanahan's stubbornness. He either adapts his OL philosophy to beat that Seattle defense or brace himself for the ass whoopin' that awaits. The way he was speaking about the Seahawks' defense today in the pre-game stuff gives me hope that he's going to make the adjustment. I think that Seattle defense keeps him up at night.

At this point, I don't feel only drafting Oline will make it better.

IMO, we need 2 FA guys - Linderbaume [sp] to play Center and the best LG we can get w/in reason.

Then we'll have a little time to develop new guys.

KS hates to play rookies - especially on the OLine.

Other teams do it w/very good success.

Sadly Kyle has a certain mentality when it comes to the Oline. Aside from Trent, Kyle is ok with smaller, finesse based OL.

I dont see that philosophy changing anytime soon. Brendel is a perfect example. Doubt he would start on 5 teams in the league yet he's Kyle's golden goose at Center. With all the other needs we need to fill, doubt we draft any studs at OL. Nor do we look at Linderbaum in FA…

Unfortunately (imo), I don't think they're going to try to get one of the top OT linemen in the draft, I hope I'm wrong...

They're bringing back Austin Pleasants. Brandon Parker is still here and FO recently signed Zachary Thomas. Hope TW stays healthy

CMC still as fast as 2 years ago ,This line was the 7 worst in the NFL in yards before contact. CMC led the league in broken tackles because they never could get him in the open field to see his speed when you always have to break tackles. Kyle and Lynch said during days in training camp that CMC looked as fast as he ever has here in San Francisco.

Good point, and I considered that... hoping that the OT (if they went there) had experience at guard/LG

Hopefully Pleasants can improve, it was his first time getting thrown to the wolves after all, he should get better. I don't know about Parker and Thomas, but at least there will be a lot of competition for backup behind TW and Mckivitz

You can also look at next gen stats, he never broke 17.3 mph on any of his 300 touches this year...2023 he had touches in the 20 mph zone and could break out long runs consistently vs this past season his long was 20 yards until around week 15, his avg was also pretty bad at around 3.6 ypc until the back end of the season but still he finished under 4 ypc which is considered the avg for starting rbs. He's still a very talented back but he's clearly well into the backend of his career. For comparison Jahmyr Gibbs at 23 and one of the leagues fastest rbs had multiple runs going over 22 mph this past season, he was a 4.36 rb when drafted.

Also maybe cmc had to break a lot of los tackles this year because he can't hit a hole as he used to. He's also no Frank the Tank who could find and fit into tiny cracks in the dline well into his 30s. I wonder if CMC can evolve his game to match his change in speed.

We imo however desperately need more speed to be the most successful in Kyle's zone run game.

Check the all 22 tape , the mph is not everything they never got him into the open field and on his longer plays the wr missed blocks on the players who had the angle. Gibbs is not a good comparison he gets a lot of bi open lanes to run the defense doesn't key on him like CMC. Why does our offense score more points on avg with CMC than with out because he is always the focus point if the defense doesn't. I will take Kyle and Lynch opinion that he has not lost a step.
