We see the picture if we compare PFF ratings of Tackles versus Guards: there are 26 Tackles with a rating of 70 or higher compared to only 16 guards. Center is even worse. Only 6 Centers rate a 70 or higher. For that reason, teams that have good IOL players aren't going to trade them. The players that are available, believe it or not, are worse than what we have. Getting Bartch back to replace Colby will be a big help. The rookie is just not ready as a pass protector.

As to McKivitz; I don't see all the hate for him. He is playing very well, currently rated #16 among all tackles. His Pass Protection and Run Blocking ratings are nearly equal. Considering there are 30 other Tackles that are being paid the same or more than McKivitz, he is a bargain, and we have him under contract through 2028.

Mckvitz is a slight above average tackle. He's the least of the worries on the o line.

We probably won't make it deep into the playoffs with our losses on D, but we can at least field a competitive team if we move from Brendel and Colby. McKivtz should be next but we committed too much $$ to make him a backup.

Getting Barch back will help, Puni has really played poorly this yr…the PCL injury has to be messing with his play, but man he's been a train wreak all season.

The backups must be terrible to have not put someone else in to let him heal up.

To nitpick a bit, there are 76 Tackles that have met the minimum number of snaps to be rated by PFF. At #16, McK is WELL above average. In Pass Blocking, he is ranked #13, and that is against ALL Tackles, both Left and Right. He is 10 slots HIGHER than Trent Williams.
A thread

I don't blame of offensive lineman at all. Shanahan/lynch knew what they were. They're playing up to their abilities. It's the coaches/gm fault for allowing backup tier players be starters

Ouch. Wouldn't hurt so much if it wasn't true.
OL play is bad all around the league…. Super. Don't care. Ours is worse.
PFF SAYS…. Don't care. Our OL does not pass the eye test. It's miserable.
Do we have a running game? No
Did our qb get sacked 6 times? Yes.
save the b******t for the pencil neck stat geeks. Watch the game.. you really ant miss just how horrible it really is. There is no defending that quality of play. It has to improve to at least the league standard which as many of you claim is bad. So yes let's go from utter garbage to bad. It will be a huge improvement.

So going from hot organic garbage (current state) to mediocre, we could definitely get to the playoffs... add a couple solid players on defense and we just might make the SB

It's something I have been harping on for over 3 years and nothing is being done. Then we hear we don't need to draft o line in the early rounds because we can develop less talented players and spend draft capital on WR or other perimeter players. Will it get better, I doubt it but now since I've said it maybe it will change.....
Isaac Alarcon back on PS and they worked out T Andre Dillard again
