Overall Burford wasn't awful this off season.

While I didn't zero in on him, he looked pretty bad against DEN and the beat writer reports were not very glowing. Did you hear/see otherwise ?

I heard some positive things. The line in general in the pre-season is going to suck since they don't get a chance to get used to playing next to the guy next to them and they don't do any game planning. Supposedly in practice Burford has been holding his own.

I see him like I see Brendell, just good enough that he can work but you are still always looking for an upgrade.

I expect a few changes to the roster ... I wonder if they will take any risks on the line though. Foerster likes "his guys" ... probably more than he should.
BTW I just want to give Kyle Shanahan some credit after the cuts yesterday. I thought for sure he was going to keep Zakelj on the team because he was a vet and we were going to waive Moss.

I don't know what's going to happen today, Moss may still be waived if we make some additions today but it gives me hope that Kyle will keep the better players and the veteran status isn't going to override decisions.

As the off season went on he played better out there. A couple really bad looking plays early in that Den game overshadowed a decent move to OT imo.

Some of it is how the rules run for the PS transitions. Zakelj and Nugent may end up back on the PS even though they looked awful in pre-season.

Burford seemed shaky to start but then was OK but we could do better though not likely this year. I had hoped Pleasant had developed and would do better but he was only OK at times and could be replaced. Hennesy was only Ok and he could get replaced later in the year but needs to be the back up center for now.
Nugent didn't pan out and Zakelj was still bad. I am glad they finally cut him. i though Moss looked good and showed potential. I'm glad they are going to work him in at center. It would good if we had our future interior OL set with young guys. Colby, Moss, and Puni
Just need tackles next offseason.
I'd like to see one added from the cuts. Esa Pole was someone we met with that I'd like to see added but others are interested too. It looked like he did well for KC in camp.
Others may just be adds to the practice squad. Logan Brown got cut also, He's an athletic OT that many wanted late in the draft.

When Colby and Moss screw up they will get burned by fans too. It's how it works for O linemen.

They are late round/undrafted scrubs. We will likely need 4 new OL starters next year

Trent won't leave 22 mil on table.

a lot of late rd guards turn into decent to good lineman in the league. Spend legit money and capital on center/OT

Center has become a harder spot to fill as line protection calls have moved from the QB to the center. I'm not sure it's better, but it's been moving that way for a while now. I wonder what impact radios in QB helmets had on that trend?

Maybe. Plenty of players have left the game with money on the table.

Not when they held out for it two years earlier.
