This team will never win a Super Bowl because they've neglected the oline for far too long. Like we're reliant on mckivitz and the sad thing is he goes down… they're a lottery team again

Burford is Trent William backup and we have all watch him whiff on blocks. I'm saying Depth sucks. There O Line drafting have been spotty to not good. Sure they used a first on McGlinchey and he was not that good. They used a second on Bank, He was ok and he walked. I hope Puni keep improving. Other then Puni is there a younger O line that was draft your looking forward to watching ? Is there any other O line that you see or think can be on the team in 2 or 3 years ? If they had Puni and 2 other guy that I see being starters in 2 or 3 year I would be fine with the line. The o line depth sucks.
The frustration come from Kyle saying he like the o line. He thinks the o line is good. He likes the depth. For me the frustration come from all the third and fourth round pick traded or used to Draft RB and WR. If they used 4 of those pick on the O line I think they would be in much better shape.

Nothing really new to say. Burford, Zakelj, Hennessy/Nugent, Colby/Moss, Pleasants are not anything special, they just want functional.

It seems the 49ers are willing to pay big money for LT and no other positions on the line.

They have been looking at OL in the draft but have been unwilling to reach for the position over players they felt were better than players on the existing roster. Chances are when Trent retires they will replace him with a free agent or a trade if they haven't found an LT by then.

It's possible Puni moves to LT and takes that spot.

McKivitz, if he has his best year, will be gone for being too expensive.

The team has consistently invested practice time at finding a replacement center but Brendel keeps winning the spot. I suspect that habit will keep happening.

I think they like Brendel. I do not think they want to replace Brendel. When was the last time they Drafted a Center? When was the last time they drafted a guard that can play Center? Most of the O line they draft are Tackle they see as a Guard.

They have tried basically everyone who was an IOL at center. They've clearly looking for an upgrade or the future.

Yeah they ignore the offensive line and it shows.

What does not ignoring the offensive line look like? Reaching for players in the draft? Not hiring one of the best OL coaches in the NFL? Overpaying for players to stay at the cost of other positions?

Everybody can see that the line doesn't have stars at every position, but the idea that they "ignore" it isn't supported by the facts that they pay huge money for LT and dedicate a lot of roster space on the 53 and PS to the line, and they have a history of picking up priority UDFA OL whether they draft an OL or not.

Who would you have drafted in this recent draft that would have been better for this team this year on the line?

If they do …we seem to lose it every year… Seriously though… the oLINE is trash beyond puni and a very old and injury prone legend. Pure trash.

I will say one thing…we tend to look much better as a unit once the game planning happens in real games.

Let's not forget we just watched one of the best defenses in the league go up against our backups. That tends to show the ugly.

Having said that…god help us if Trent or McKivitz go down this year. I pray we're going to target a swing OT via trade. That or hoping Dillard gets healthy and ends up being that guy for us.

Would sure love DJ Humphries here right now…

They could have not ignored the loaded center position in the previous year's draft instead of continually trotting Brendel out there.
Burford should not be on this team

This. Makes no sense
We need to do for the OL what we did in the last draft for the Defense.

From your lips to Kyle's ears.

Sounds like his tape wasn't too bad. Those two plays with Bonitto definitely didn't help the appearance tho.

One good thing we have going our way is we're at the higher end of the waiver wire order so may be able to pick up some guys other teams drop. I do think if they feel we need an outside addition then it may come via trade similar to Laken Tomlinson.
BARF_ord as backup swing Tackle. When the injuries happen and they will you have seen how that goes. We already saw it in preseason. He can't even play Guard. What makes them think he can play Tackle? This team with never addressing offensive line is driving me crazy. Really hope we don't see him in there at any point this year. But chances are we will. With Trent Williams getting older he typically misses a few games.

And taken who? To take a center they would then have to not take someone else.

Also, keep in mind they are NOT going to pay significant money for a center so if they spend a high pick at the position and they are good then they are going to be gone in a few years ... and centers are VERY seldom good as rookies ... so that investment is not for a lot of games out of the pick/player.
