LT maybe, definitely not going to go looking to spend even moderate money at C.

Not sure about that. They've shown they will shell out big money for a quality FA C. But looking at the 26 list, it's not very good unless linderbaum makes it, which I doubt. But do think the most likely path is the draft for various reasons

"Big money"? Richburg got $9M+ a year to play 28 total games. I wouldn't call that "big" but I also think they learned a lesson from him not to do that. Then look at a team like Chicago ... they are paying around $45M a year for their line's interior and haven't been above .500 in 8 years.

I really miss Jeremy Newberry. He was easily one of the best interviews on the team and an all around good dude. Last time I talked to him he could barely move without pain.

The reality is that Maurkice Pouncey's don't come around often, but he was a 1st round pick. By the way, dude retired 3 years ago, saw him at a Steelers game in Pittsburgh a year later and he had dropped near 100 lbs.

Kyle may be an issue for the Center position because the line calls are so important and complex he won't trust a young guy ... but that's why I pointed out the list of guys who have been on the roster for over a year who got snaps at center. I really want to see Nugent and see what a year in the books and in the weight room has done for him.

Yeah…big money, which it was at the time for a C. How many games he played has zero bearing on the original point

I think the games played does have bearing. It influences them to not over-spend at the position. Add to that the apparent plan to put a priority on the DL, and only paying top 60 money for star players in other groups. They have been fairly open with their belief that IOL is essentially at the bottom of their value list for offensive starters. It's to the point where I suspect that if Puni doesn't slide to OT they won't give him a 2nd contract.

The fact that they keep bringing in cheap center options certainly implies they think they can get away under $3M for a starting C, and they'd rather it be half that.

It's not that they don't think IOL is important to success, I think they just figure the impact per dollar is lower than any other starting position.
Whatever the excuse are... not going to make the oline dominant. Not ever.

True, but no other option at this point, at least as it pertains to LT and Willian's. This is an incredibly strong draft and FA class for OT. They seem to like Brendel, but this draft seems strong there as well. They've shored up most other areas for the future , so now time for OL

in the run game? I disagree
Bad ol we have
Jonathan Feliciano still chirping about Oline... I mean, he should know more than anyone in here who wasn't playing beside / around oline guys all the time
I think folks need to adjust their sarcasm meters. Feliciano is very clearly being sarcastic.

this ^^^
An actual member of the oline says what a lot of believe yet folks in here dismiss it.
I can't believe that article is taking it at face value. He's joking/being sarcastic
Pretty amazing that someone could misread what Feliciano meant.
