Well tomorrow we will wake up to see if Torey Smith rebuffed the 49ers after this latest debacle.

He probably wishes now he picked the Raiders or the Jaguars.

Wow people here haven't been watching games at all. Do people remember that this team played without Willis for much of the season???? I mean did they even watch - without Willis and Bowman and they still did well. I'm so over NT. Smith hasn't decided 100% if he's retiring yet... and even if he does there's an ENTIRE offseason before the team plays one down.

I just have no faith in the FANS. People talk about the front office but seriously, the FANS suck.

Just my 2 cents.

I am sure there are folk here that are lifelong fans but that is the point. I am a lifelong fan as well and I will tell you what? I have never wavered and that is what we should aspire to be if we don't want to be labeled frontrunner or fairweather and whatnot. Maybe I am crazy but that is how i was raised. Once I took the 49ers as my team there was no going back. To me that is what being a true fan is. You gotta be eternal and not on again off again. Maybe I am wrong but that is all I know. I am riding this out!

I'm not giving up on the team but I will not contribute another intentional dollar to the owners and will openly support a Baalke firing and a selling of the team.

this!

Guys. This has been one of the most epic news days in recent memory for most of us. Our team has seemingly been decimated by the events today, and I doubt a lot of 49er fans young and old are dreaming out.

Not saying we'll be better, not saying we will be worse. Don't leave. Don't burn your jersey, or tear down your posters. Don't sell your autographed merchandise or your memoribelia. Be faithful.

In the 2000's when we dove into obscurity it was miserable. I think we can agree we don't want that ever again and that's what we are afraid of. I am...

However. If any other team in the NFL lost what we did they would have no chance.

We still have a very talented roster, and are in a great spot in the draft. I still believe in kap, Vernon, bowman, Reid...we have cornerstones for a successful and quick reload.

Be chill homies. We gained some cap space, opened some roster spots and will get a little bit younger.

Go Niners.

Meh. If people want to leave, good riddance.
We still got this!

Right. I am looking forward to the draft and the season. Sorry to lose Willis, but these things happen.
If it makes anybody feels better. At least we can say that P.Willis retired as a Niners and he didn't play for any other team. Wish we could say the same for Gore unless he'll sign a one day contract in the future to retire as a Niner.

Man after today and more to come this weekend the 49ers have some shoes to fill. Might have to trade down from 15 and get more picks to get a good core of backups again. We one had deep depth all over the defense letting people go who could be starters on other teams and now we have to try and do that again. Hopefully those injured players the 49ers have been stashing on IR can come out and play and play well. Teams have been calling the 49ers cheaters for stashing players on IR and NFI List and now it looks like it was worth it.

Just from last years draft
Brandon Thomas
Trey Millard
Kenneth Acker
Keith Reaser
Kaleb Ramsey

Not to mention
Ian Williams
Glenn Dorsey
Jimmie Ward
Daniel Kilgore
Kendell Hunter
NaVarro Bowman
Vance McDonald
Fou Fonoti
Derek Carrier
Chuck Jacobs
Garrett Celek

Squad IR to the rescue!

Crazy to think when Bowman snapped his leg against seattle, we had no idea that would be the last time we'd ever see him and Willis play side by side again.

Ya that depressing thought crossed my mind earlier today. What is the last great Victory of Willis' career. Divisional Round @ Carolina
Honestly, I think people are overreacting to everything as a whole.

Gore was probably leaving all along. To fit an older RB into the budget, he was going to have to take a bargain price. If ANY team decided Gore was worth decent money, we were priced out. It was a pipedream to begin with that our budget offer would be his best option.

Justin Smith was already likely to retire. It wouldve been no shock.

Willis retiring is more sad than anything. Its not news that devastates the team from a talent standpoint. Borland is a very capable next man up. I just dont think we were ready to see Willis go.

Im the biggest Willis fan out there, but the hurt of that news has to do with not wanting to say goodbye to a legend. His leadership will be missed, but I know he would tell you that Borland wont let his spot miss a beat on the field.

From a talent standpoint, Borland fills in for most of what Willis was, and Dockett fills in for a good chunk of what Smith was. We didnt really downgrade in talent, but its just heartbreaking to lose these guys.
