Wasted.
As in wasted potential. Fanboys and applogists are going to rationalize everything and convince themselves that this is the best thing for the franchise, that we don't really need all these veterans and that Tomsula should be given a chance and Baalke has a good track record and maybe that's all true. But this team and core still had at least 2 more seasons of contention and instead was broken apart for no reason other than the owner/FO wanted their coach out of the picture. Where there's smoke there's fire and the veteran guys are all jumping ship because they know what this is. The team isn't saying it, but this is the start of the tear down and rebuilding period. Prepare for a 3-13 season.

"The veteran guys are all jumping ship." This is simply factually inaccurate, which is a polite phrase for it. Gore went for one last big pay check which we couldn't afford under the cap. Neither Crabtree not Iupati are likely to be missed, and they look to have priced themselves out of SF.
The two guys retiring cannot be spun into them jumping ship.
3-13? Baloney.
Oh, and by the way, fanboys? Guess that makes you either a hater or a troll. Leave the name calling in the playground where it belongs.

I'm a realist. I don't see everything through rose colored glasses. If you can't step back and see what's going on here objectively, well I don't know what to tell you.
"Leave the name calling in the playground where it belongs"...which was was proceeded by calling me a hater and a troll. Nice one. If you're that sensitive about something someone says on a message board, grow a pair.
What did you edit in your original post btw?

I call it like I see it and I've seen enough in sports to know where we're heading.
Or should blind allegiance trump everything? Fans should only be positive and trust that these execs know what they're doing? Tomsula and his staff going to get us to deep into the playoffs? We'll be better without Smith, Willis, Skuta, Gore, Iupati? Cap issues are what they are, fine. But there hasn't been much that has given me hope about how this FO is operating since the season has ended, or even during the season for that matter. It should be about the team, not about the owner and management.

So those who hold a more positive view than you haven't been around sport long enough to see where we are going and can't have come to their opinion by logical consideration, it's just blind allegiance?
Well, if that is a fair stance presumably the opposite is equally valid, that there are posters here who will just assume the worst no matter what happens and are looking forward to a 2-14 season because it will prove them right.

"And the Beat Goes On" by Sonny and Cher.
