49ers released WR Stevie Johnson. The move will save San Francisco $6.025 million against the 2015 salary cap. Acquired from Buffalo for a fourth-round pick last May, Johnson posted a 35/435/3 line in his lone season in San Francisco. A crisp route runner, Johnson had three straight 1000-yard receiving seasons under new Jets OC Chan Gailey while the pair were in Buffalo. He should find a healthy market as a solid possession receiver. There's no hurry. 49ers are under the cap. Baalke is likely to see how the WR FA market shakes out until he makes any major decisions.

We do not know if anything is going on with Stevie Johnson.

There was a report that he had been release, which obviously is false, and the thread has just snowballed from there.

According to MM as of today, Johnson has not even been asked to take a pay cut.

Darnell Docket DT/DE visiting but he's 34 and coming off ACL. Loved the dude before the injury and hope he is healthy and the 49ers can sign him cheap.

He apparently turned down an offer of $2.5m from AZ. So he's not likely to come cheaper than that.

SF has a promising quarterback and a new coaching staff that should give him more playing time. If the 49ers can fix the offense watch out.

Why would he except less than that per year? Makes no sense. He could probably get more from another team.

Stevie WAS getting fed crumbs in SF (in the past under Harbaugh and Roman).

The new coaching staff will let him actually eat the effing cake.

he was fed those crumbs under a former regime who thought it was a nice idea to set him and two promising kids on the bench while playing old miss lloyd and line up miller at the top of your tv screen,,, that is who you should be upset with but as long as your friends uncle in the mailroom has pictures, what the hell do any of us know
