Super Bowl win with class or him and his entire coaching staff must go. If winning the SB every year is the standard for this franchise and the front office is so confident in its ability that it can just promote a DL coach to HC and think it won't miss a beat then I don't want to hear any excuses after the season.

Visibly improved offense, no defensive regression, playoff win.

Playoff appearance + proving that he and his staff are willing to make the necessary adjustments to give the players the best chance to win. The latter is the real key, because even a loss in the playoffs can be seen as correcting the course from what went wrong in the 2014 season if the loss is not because the coaching staff made questionable decisions.

But lets be honest, i don't think this is possible because the team is aging and appears to ready to take shot at the super bowl now. Plus next year with out a playoff appearance and we may move on from Kap. Then we are looking for a QB in the Draft or free agency. Unlikely we are going to get a rookie QB who is going to take us deep into the playoffs in year 2 and then a SB win in year 3. And when was the last time a super bowl ready QB hit the market in free agency. The only ones i can think off is P Manning and D. Brees. I don't see any one like that being available next year.
I don't think that's entirely accurate. Outside of J.Smith, Boldin, V.Davis, F.Gore and P.Willis, the core of our team is well under 30. A.Brooks is likely gone this offseason. I expect Gore is gone as well. J. Smith might retire. Davis is in a make or break season and Boldin looks like he has one year left in him. Baalke has done a good job of balancing youth with experience over the past few seasons and I expect that to continue.
You're right about this though - If Kap doesn't show progress this season, then this team is at least three years away from a Super Bowl.
Correct. We average age 26 right now with those guys. Without 25.

The answer of course is, it depends. As long as the arrow points up he's good no matter what the circumstances.

Well, yeah - because they get offered more money and their careers are short. Harbaugh was under contract and has a long career in front of him.
Unless he don't find the next Josh Johnson or Andrew Luck to hide all of his mistakes. Then he will be an average coach being ran out of town again.

If the question is what does Tomsula have to do to keep his job for three years, the answer is "stay alive."

Some of you guys need to remember that Bill Walsh was passed over for a head coaching job by "the father of modern football" Paul Brown, while he was on PB's staff. He also had to drop down to the college ranks before he was offered a head coaching job, from a franchise that was the bottom of the barrel. He went 2-14 his first year. Remember?
So before you start running down the current coaching staff, remember that. We have no idea how well the team will do next year. Give them a chance before you condemn the coaches, players, and administration.

Nobody is writing the staff off already. Also, Bill Walsh didn't take over a team that made it to three NFCC games and a Super Bowl in the four seasons prior.

Head coaching in college probably was a blessing in disguise for him. He got crucial head coaching experience to have success in the NFL.
Thats why at least Coach T having experience helps, even if it was nfl euro lol.

There have been plenty of posts with "fans" writing off the new coaching staff. # NFC championships games a Superbowl, and then 8 - 8. The ride was over. JH's history in coaching repeated itself time and time again. He's good for about 4 years and then the wheels fall off. I think he's going to be a much more successful coach in the long run at the college level, mainly because the players are gone after four years and he won't hit the wall with them. If he can handle his relationship with the administration he will do well.
My point about Bill was that he was given time to prove himself, and Tomsula and co. should also be afforded the same opportunity.
