What do you think about Julian Edelman said about Steve Young?

have you ever read the book that came out two years ago,, joe vs steve.. wow that is some book,, big tell all about those days,, the locker room was divided, the coaches would impotent, young and rice used an eager media to drive their respective points on how they should be starting,,,, its the best niner book i have ever read, and that tops ronnie lotts excellent book he had out years ago. i love steve but should have stuck with joe then groomed bono in my opinion. I was like alot of spoiled niner fans back then.. hated young for losing the nfc title games to the cowboys. the cciowa person back then was not to be reasoned with , along with most of the very very spoiled fan base back then

i often think of the best most complete niner team, kind of close with that team and the 84 team that beat miami. to close to call, could not live on the difference. its funny that those teams were never given any respect by anyone. remember the pre super bowl blather that we would not be able to contain awesome marino? after a couple of minor heat attacks i had with the no huddle in the first half we made him and them one dimensional

Hard to pick the best ever Niner team between 84, 89 and 94. Ironically, the 87 team was the one that led the league in both offense and defense. One and done.

Teams themselves too close to call, but I prefer '89 because they had Jerry. That tips the scales. '81 always holds a special place because it was what made me a NINER fan. Hope I'll get to see another,

That's actually not what happened. Montana started and played the Raider game. He was 16/31 with no TD's and no Ints for a grand total of 160 yards that day against the Raiders. And the Cardinals game was hardly Young's deal. He and the Niner offense built up a 23-0 lead and the Cardinals came all the way back to win 24-23 in the final seconds of the game.

He couldn't decide because Joe was beat up but still wanted to play. Healthy Joe = no decision.

Are you sure about that? That's not quite the impression I got from some of walsh's statements about the subject. I may have to dig them up out of my Niner stash. I do know Joe was hurt off and on throughout that season. I can only imagine Walsh's desire to unleash a mobile, left handed QB on the NFL and change the way DC's defended his offense.

Serious, who cares about HOF-vote or not if it comes down to a controversial opinion? I do understand this "comparison" if it were some armchair-QB here who would have stated the same as Edelman, though even then it comes down to the evaluation of the content and not the status, but Edelman is certainly not a nobody in this league. He is a proven receiver and Steve Young as a "journalist" is full potato and he deserves to be contradicted at times.

understand.. the 84 team was something else with the addition of fred dean and roger craig. i loved freddie soloman. kind of weird cuz we traded one of my favorite players in delvin williams for him which made me cry at the time. trust me, if you would have been around in 84 the pre game blather, the lack of respect and the media slobbering over marino would have made you spit up. you know our team has ALWAYS been at their best when its us vs the world. people rooted against us cuz they loved marino and then when we had the superior team like 89 and 94 they rooted against us cuz they were sick of us
