If the 87 squad would have won it all they might have been considered the greatest team in NFL history.

I kinda always look at '87-'89 as the same team.

'87 - 13-3
'88 - 13-6
'89 - 17-2

However after the 6-5 start in '88, they proceeded to go on a 24-3 stretch that included two titles. If you include the '90 squad the run increases to 39-6 record over a 45 game stretch that included an 18 game road win streak. That road winning streak is still my favorite niner accomplishment.

Truly a dominant stretch from 87-90. The QB combo of Montana and Young was near unstoppable.
You know the Niners are back to being abysmal when the history thread pops up again.

Maybe but I am just an old school type of guy and love the history of the team.
80s Niners opening up Dynasty week on nfl network.

On my niners of the 80s dvd they mostly talk about the 79-88 squads with Walsh as the HC. Barely anything on the 89 team.
Have any of you heard people say the 49ers cheated their way to SB 29 because of salary cap violations?

If so what are your opinions on it?

I always thought our cap violations were as a result of Brent jones contract in 1997. I think the cap was in its infancy in 1994 and I'm not too sure how or what violations happened then. People where pissed though because we had a lot of FA take discounts to play on the 1994 team.

Pats fans are bringing up anything to deflect their current situation.

Well me and this Cowboys fan got into it about that on youtube. It was mostly a lot of 1 year deals I think.

Cowboys fan just sounds bitter...they b***h about that and the non PI call on Deion in the 1994 NFC title game. Yet theyre silent about the garbage holding call in 1992 that negated Jerrys long TD. To the best of my knowledge the caps sanctions were for 1997 only.
1986 49ers draft

1986 49ers: They traded down twice out of the first round and ended up without a first-round pick. But look at what they got: defensive tackle Larry Roberts in the second round; fullback Tom Rathman, cornerback Tim McKyer and receiver John Taylor in the third round; defensive end Charles Haley, offensive tackle Steve Wallace and defensive tackle Kevin f*gan in the fourth round; and cornerback Don Griffin in the sixth round. All eight were starters who helped form the foundation of two Super Bowl teams in San Francisco.

Since 1994 was the first year of the NFL salary cap, I'd say that's kind of a specious argument. Every team was in the process of working out the details on how to write contracts which would work under the new rules.

Irvin always pushed off, I thought it was a "tripping" call that called back Jerrys td?

That was the RELOAD draft.

It was a BS hold call on Guy McIntyre. I just rewatched it...the full game is on the NFL now app.

1993 at Detroit. Offense scores 55 and has over 550 yards with a backup HB. Coming off a bad loss at Atlanta the week before the niners won this game to go 10-4 and win the west. Unfortunately, they lost the next two weeks at the sick (Houston and philly).
