At least our crybabies aren't quite this bad . . .

It's interesting how much difference one hire makes. . . and makes everyone pessimistic. If the niners had hired Chud, people would think that we had a good staff.
Stupid of York not to have splurged and paid the big bucks for Chud or Shanahan

So that is the difference between an optimist and a pessimist. Judgement now as against judgement in a reasonable time.

Ding ding ding ding ding, you hit the nail on the head. Thank you kind sir.

I was optimistic, but was gradually becoming more n more pessimistic with each interview of a credible candidate and the HC job not offered afterward. With each interview of credible asst's and the subsequent rejections. Then finally, the rag tag, yes men, assembledge of keystone cops we had to settle for, enough was enough. I changed to a pessimist, I feel like I see whats on the horizon.

You are right, there are two sides of the fanbase, or at least the WZ. Hence the reason I created the thread. I, as you said, am making my judgement now. No more optimisim left. Except that I hope im wrong. Those with any, you have your thread. Nothing wrong in my opinion with either point of view.

No I don't think they would think the staff overall good. Gase or Chud leave room for hope despite the other hires. Now there is none.

My view also. Wait and see how things play out. I'm not much of a complainer anyways.

Lol and some of us are not blind sheep being led to the slaughter either.
After reading 7 pages I just hope next year we all say wow i can't believe how great this staff coaches and our players love playing hard for them..and free agents are lined up wanting to sign here..bc I'm afraid to see this years free agency considering it looked like coaches didn't even want to sign and work for York..

So the owner has absolutely no influence in the success or failure of a football team?

No. The owner obviously has influence. All I meant was that the coaching changes have been made and York's part in this is pretty much over. Now it's up to coaches to coach and players to play.

Don't get me wrong here. I think things have been handled in a very awkward manner. I was a big Harbaugh supporter, but it's not like I was a big fan of the offense. Time marches on. Jed York and Baalke have made their decisions. They've put together a staff. There's perception and there's reality. I think that in this case perception is probably worse than reality.

Now what we fans have is a roster with good talent, especially on defense and a different staff with quite a few coaches with whom the players are familiar and comfortable. Are there grounds for pessimism? Of course. But, I think there are also reasons for optimism.

Ballke saying he has a 3 year plan infuriates me. Its clear this offseason has shown they didn't do well in executing anything. So even if they have a plan they are going to f**k it up like they did the coaching staff. God I hate you Jed and Trent. I hope you catch a cureable yet painful disease.

What they are saying is that always have a three-year roster look ahead plan. Every year they recalibrate and plan what their roster will look for the next three years This is done on a yearly basis. Everyone calm down.

How can the possibly know what they want their roster to look like in 3 years when you are planning to fire the HC? When you are planning to hire an unproven coach and a bunch of guys who can't get jobs in other places? It's a lot of BS.

After having someone quasi-dependable at QB, hiring your DL coach as HC is a real ham-fisted way of addressing the next major issue for this team, which is replacing Justin Smith.

You couldnt be more wrong. It took way more than 1 hire, or Chud turning us down to change peoples mindset. You must not have been paying attention to what has been said, rather dead set on coming in here to hurl what you think are funny insults instead. Its been a laundry list of things, starting with the so-called mutual parting of ways. So at least get your s**t straight before you attempt a funny.

I wouldn't automatically assume that the "coaching overall sucks" because they haven't even gone to work yet. Sticking to the title of this thread, here are some reasons that could curb the pessimism a bit:

Offense:

- Geep Chryst will probably run some form of WCO and Foerster will probably install at least some zone blocking - this will be an entirely new challenge for NFC West defenses and probably not nearly as predictable.

- There might be more health and consistency with the O-line; couldn't get much worse than last year.

- Kaepernick is doing some very serious off-season wood-shedding; that's got to be a positive.

Defense:

- They'll get Willis, Bowman, Dorsey and Williams back - wow.

- The defensive players all seem to love Tomsula - Justin Smith might even stay on for another year with Tomsula at HC.

I definately can appreciate this post, as some of the bullet points i agree with. Namely:

Oline health- cant get any worse, with full off season with who we will retain, we should be ok.

Kap's offseason work- shows he is willing to put in the work to improve. Im optimistic it will bear fruit and result in improvement in his play.

Pat, Bow and others health- im pumped to see them back and am very optimistic they will return to form.

I however feel the way I did prior to the 2010 offseason. Even more so how I did with mooch's firing and the Erickson hiring, the s**t with the coach's and FO will overshadow the positives. Coach T and the amigos please dish up my crow.
I think it's very interesting that Vegas isn't buying into all the negative hype that's going on WRT the changes with the Niners. I feel the same way...changes don't need to be bad...in fact, they can be very good for a team. Niner players seem very supportive of Tomsula and his staff...and that's more than good enough for me.

Yeah! The one that keeps him employed for the next three years!

Now if that doesn't work, maybe he can blame it on the coaces AGAIN ... Get them fired and lobby for another three years !
