What is the most unfortunate turn of events in 49ers history?

To me it is Eddie turning team over and it isn't even close. That was when things truly seemed to go a different direction. Part of me hoped that it was Eddie running things in the background, but it obviously wasn't true. There was a lot of things that could have been said about Eddie D and have been said, but no one could question the quality of work he actually did as leader of the Niners.

That whole experience ripped me up pretty good.

MR . D losing the team.

Then by proxy you should vote for the OJ trade, because that was Joe Thomas' crown jewel.

When Charles Haley started jacking off in front of Joe Montana

Did that happen? The legend of Charles Haley. I heard he was shipped out because he took a poop on a coaches car. Those edge rushers aren't always the most stable humans.

Thought it was Tim Harris' Car?

Somebody has to get to the bottom of this.

Anyone want to throw drafting Alex Smith out there!

Not so much drafting Smith, but passing on Rogers. That one decision crippled the future of this franchise.
Joe could have played 3 more years with us and won us 2 more titles.

They also passed on Tom Brady for Gio Caramizzi.

I'm not so sure Rogers would be the Rogers we know him to be today if he would have come here.
He got to sit behind Favre for a couple years and get a chance to get comfortable in a system...
Smith on the other hand....
This thread is like the lowest of the low in terms of 49ers and football knowledge. lol.

Harbs couldn't fix the offense in 4 years, and refused to axe Greg Roman. He had to go. Stop being babies, wake up and realize he was not the god you think he was. If anything, you guys should be mad about Fangio leaving

Bill Walsh being "retired" by Eddie D. I liked George, but Bill Walsh was a one-off.

Drafting rodgers would have been awesome. Who cares how rodgers played through the nolan revolving door of OC's, assuming we hire harbaugh at the same time, Rodgers wins in romans offense. Rodgers is a better QB than kap and alex combined. Letting mooch go was another turning point that hurt for several years.

agree,, should have traded young for derrick thomas, then we would not have had to go nuts and bring in pricey free agents to fix the defense which in large part led to salary cap hell,, then you could have kept bono, and groomed him to replace joe
