What I like about Tomsula is that he doesn't go out on a limb. Unlike a Singletary who would be like "WE WILL STOP DREW BREES!"

That's something positive. I have no doubt Tomsula will be better than Singletary.

Then I guess I haven't been a fan since 1989.

Probably same reason Jed didn't give him an interview for HC
I think you nailed it.

The players seem to like him. The media guys seem to think he's a nice guy. Maybe he just gets nervous in front of non football players...Because, as you heard, he thinks football players are cool.

I watch him in front of the press and it's a disaster. Scary if he can't formulate a complete thought or express himself on camera how can he be a HC and spokesman of franchise.
Then I watch what all the players say about this guy and how sold Trent is on the guy, even though Trent isn't my favorite person on this planet after this season but he didn't all of a sudden become completely incompetent, and has to know if this season is a absolute disaster he will be looking for a new job. So I have to put some faith in this decision.
Marshawn can't get through a media session but he can sure play football. Maybe JT is the same he can't talk to press but he can coach his a$$ off or at least I hope so.
I am concerned that he is the players best friend and the players think he will be easy on them and will start to walk all over him.

Some of the questioned were softballs too, he struck out badly on those too. He's a complete deer in the headlights and in over his head.
The denialists protecting this Front Office and their asinine decisions sound less like fans and more like Baghdad Bob impersonators....trying hard to convince themselves that everything will be alright while shouting down the naysayers.
...calling them names, accusing them of not being real fans, telling them to become Shehawk fans.
york cattle, I mean york cheap, I mean york sheep
Is that not calling people names too

I think Jim is torn between being himself and not upstaging Trent and Jed.

I used to love listening to Mike Nolan (even though he couldn't coach).
I started to waver listening to Singletary (even though he couldn't coach).
I completely stopped listening to Harbaugh, because he spoke a lot without actually saying anything at all (but he could coach!).
and now I won't listen to Tomsula because he can't talk lol.
If he brings the W's I could care less if Tomsula is interesting to listen to or not.

There is a line between criticizing / discussing a FO move (which can lead to positive results) and flat out whining / insulting.
That line has been crossed multiple times in the last few days.

As the D-line has done in all these years.
Not as if he came form nowhere and never was a coach on any level.

there is a line which if crossed leads to question peoples fanhood
if a fan is not rooting for the 49ers and wants to see them lose every game because of personnel or FO grudge, are they a fan anymore?
part of being a fan is being loyal. it doesn't have to be blind loyalty, anyone can criticize anyone or want someone fired. but in the end of the day fans root for their team no matter what.
those saying 'I will root for 49ers to lose every game' or 'I will now root for the raiders'...are they really fans ? I cannot say affirmative. there have been teams with huge history of sucking and yet the fans will root for the team.
fans love the team in them, not themselves in team. if one loves the team they will love it unconditionally. if one loves him/herself in the team (meaning, stopping rooting when teams philosophy dont match their ideas of what a team should be like, when FO doesnt make changes they like, when team starts sucking, etc), they aren't really fans. imo.
Good post, summed up perfectly.

Please tell me that wasn't an actual interview .. It felt more like a Saturday Night Live spoof. I'm down right frightened. It felt like Tomsula is a random Niner fan who won a raffle to become the Niners new head coach.
