The price was pretty high for ownership (not too long before Dr. York had locked the gatorade cooler) but the GM thing was probably not a sticking point. York gave both titles to Mike Nolan who had no head coaching experience at any level. I guess he didn't have enough on his table with having a head coaching job for the first time.

The front-office has handled all this very ineptly. Tomulsa may work out but it seems like a really big leap of faith for a franchise that is supposedly primed to contend for a Super Bowl next year. But I am less concerned about Tomulsa than I am about Baalke. He better turn out to be the real deal (the last year raises some real doubt) or there will truly be some lean years ahead.
Jed and Ted are not dumb and dumber, they played Coach Harbaugh like a fiddle. Or maybe I mean Dr. John York. Harbaugh was worth so much more than the 5 mill per year. They will save millions with the Tomsula hire. Where will that money go? Surely not into finding a coach with actual experience. I hope Tomsula proves me wrong but this has the capability of going South at the speed of light.
I choose to have faith and be optimistic. I hope everyone who is wailing right now is proven wrong. SB 49 next year, it'd be poetic.

everyones mad because they want a flashy offense but the reality is that seattle will probably win the superbowl again through defense.

we dont need an innovator on offense because we were so bad that getting back to average is all we need. the wins will come from the same smashmouth formula weve used since Harbaugh got here

Yeah, better then Fangio? How many games has Tomsula coached as a Coordinator in the NFL? Zero!! Fangio has the Defense of this team on his side, he's been a top DC for many years in college and the pros. It would have made ALOT MORE SENSE to make Fangio a HC and Tomsula as DC to learn the trade. Ri-frickin-diculous!!
I just listened to Mindy Bach & Matt Maiacco. Maiacco was saying within the building the thought is that the defense could be greater. Fangio was running a simple scheme that didn't blitz a whole lot. Jason Tarver & Dennis Allen are names mentioned for potential DC.
Looks that way. Who's really confident a quality OC is going to want to work for Tomsula? I'm sure not.

It's SB 49 this year, and Seattle is going to win it. I guess that's poetic too in a dark kind of way.

Why wouldn't they? I'm just concerned that no good OC's are available.
This hurts. I can't believe this ownership has done this. Get rid of best head coach in last 20 years. Lose the best defensive coordinator we've had in 20+ seasons. Promote a cheap d-line yes man to head coach. Surreal. I cant' believe I am living this AGAIN for the second time in a decade. I can't stand Baalke and his mediocre drafts. Can't stand York and his mediocre stadium. I can't believe what they have done to our team. Shameful.

Actually there is no resemblance between now and the TDon years. The drafts aren't mediocre and the stadium isn't mediocre either. Hopefully the hysteria will die down here eventually.
I'm witholding judgement until I know who the Offensive and defensive coordinators are going to be. I watched NFL Europe when Tomsula was coaching there and I liked him then. I felt he did a good job. I think the coordinators are going to be extremely important with a defensive head coach. If the defense takes a step back to being ranked in the top 10-15 the offense would probably would just have to be ranked in the 10-15 range in points in order to make a strong playoff run again.

Yes, let's look for coaches from the worst teams.

The lack of blitzes is a valid point. Fangio did over rely on the front four getting pressure without help, which could lead to long times in the pocket for opposing QBs. Tomsula certainly would have noted this.
It's just doom & gloom all over the 49ers board. Thought you guys were more jolly on the west coast. Sheeeeeesh!
