LOL. Only 4? You make jokes!

a 2 minute playclock would not have helped us. now in defense of the former oc and head coach,, once in a great while,, we were in a hurry at the line cuz gore and ck were taking some time in the huddle to change plays to plays that would actually work

you should know that is S.O.P. you got alot of people acting like they hope this will happen. never mind it would mean we would be having a bad season, that does not matter. what does matter is hoping the team fails in order to justify their hate for a coach, player or the team in general

It's an actual thing. It's called schadenfreude. Really prevalent in the world today.
Go Niners.

I'm w/you cciowa.

They're waiting in the wings just hoping we fail.

Then when we shock the world - they'll hop on the band wagon.

but...but...but...Jim Tomsula is a meathead.

Tomsula it seems learned from his days watching other coaches get hired and then fired; learning what made them successful and what made them failures.

Nolan - great talent eval/drafter not so great coach/ created friction in locker room to try improve results/ super serious all the time.

Singletary- great team psychologist/motivational speaker can easily relate to players/ terrible x and o/ uber stubborn/ meddled too much in game planning despite weakness.

Harbaugh- winning attitude/great at getting the team focused/ novel x and o/ great coach recruiter/ loves to work in turmoil. Does not play well with others/ win today philosophy detrimental to younger player development. Loyal to a fault. Will not change.

So what is Tomsula doing? Hiring/ recruiting great coaches and letting them coach where he is weak. Open to innovation and correcting the obvious. Developing the young. Holding players accountable for actions on/off field. Relating to players and encouraging them to have fun. Letting everyone do their job.

It's an encouraging start now to see as the article says if it translates to wins.

Very nice summary NinerGM!

Yes indeed!

Thanks guys - no problem.

And NC, that article from Curry gave me chills. I've always said this group of WRs are going to explode once they get some better coaching and a scheme that can actually give them a chance - don't be surprised by these guys. I know it's early but as you keep reading ... good defense, good offense. You all know what that means.

But ssssssshhhhhhhhh! Keep underestimating us. Please.

And our next head coach (next season) will learn from Tomsula that a head coach can't spread his job out to other people, too many cooks in the kitchen.
A good CEO, manager, director, head coach, etc. Delegates tasks. You hire good people and they do a lot of the work. He is the orchestrator, he deals with the macro(high level/big picture stuff) parts of the team(organizing, planning, setting goals, building a philosophy, helping with the general gameplan). Jim harbaugh's fault was he was a micro manager, ie he tried to get too involved.

Good leaders don't micro manage. They deal with the big picture and make sure the right people are in place to make the organization run like a machine.

I like what the Stache is doing in this regard, he is delegating responsibility and only making sure things are getting done.

You do know that your dude Harbaugh had one of the largest offensive staffs in the NFL right? Harbaguh's offensive staff was bigger than entire coaching staffs of some teams. Tomsula doesn't have nearly as many coaches. How did that philosophy work out for him? I'd say initially pretty well. The problem aren't the cooks, it's when the head chef doesn't want to admit that his steak is overcooked. Tomsula seems to understand when it's time to correct the obvious.

Harbaugh's problem was his stubbornness. I just hope that Tomsula is a tamer version of Jim because that would be perfect...you know, like Jim's brother, John.
Is it just me or do I get the sense that some 49er fans want Tomsula to fail?

Guess it depends on how broad your definition of fan is...

You are correct.

If Tomsula succeeds, then Jed York looks good for firing Jimbo. Some fans just can't have Jed making good decisions.

Yea I get all that but what you guys don't realize his Tomsula is going to basically make all the coaches "head coaches" because he said it himself that "it's going to take a village" to coach this team. Some coaches will say "we'll do it this way" and JT will say yes because he is that type of guy.

A head coach needs to be a real leader of men whille JT is just a yes man.
i still maintain that everybody needs to relax and let's see what Tomsula brings. An awful lot of times, bringing in a name coach, ends up a few yrs later miserably. That is how i perceive harbaw, going back midway into the 2014 season. So again,, how about everybody give Tomsula an opportunity to show us what he's got, and then make a decision. I don't know more than anyone else, but am sure willing to give an unheralded , not well known, Tomsula, an opportunity to prove the doubters wrong.

While we're throwing around baseless accusations...

- I heard JT taught Cosby how to roofie women
- I heard he diddled with Sandusky
- I heard he fought for Hitler and the Nazis
- I heard he forced the pills down Heath Ledger and Philip Seymore Hoffman's throats
- His favorite movie is Hotel Rwanda, for the LOLs
- I heard he came up with the first spam email
- The fiasco of the 2000 election was his way of trolling Florida via manipulating ballots and voter fraud
- He went back in time and invented castration
- I heard he once poached panda bears in China
- I heard he kicked Rosa Parks off the bus
- He caused the premature cancelation of Police Squad 33 years ago
- I heard that John Wilkes Booth was his BFF and shot Lincoln based on JT's dare
- The Inquisition is his favorite bedtime story for his kids
