NFL source: Jason Tarver in line to join the 49ers as defensive coordinator; Marc Trestman a possibility as offensive coordinator.

It wouldn't have mattered who we hired. There would've been the same amount of people blowing a gasket over it. It's the way this fanbase is.

I can't believe this. This is worse than the Singletary hire.
What HC and Coordinator experience at any level did Singletary ever have? Tomsula had success preparing our players to go out and win the year we ousted Singletary, and he had his guys prepared to play in NFL Europe. He is a proven player developer, leader, and teacher with a winning track record.
Tomsula was a defensive coordinator for the #1 defense and World Bowl Champions, and also was a winner as a HC the following year. He deserves a chance. He's has experience at all levels, not just DL coach.
The Niners are a good offensive play caller/designer away from being right back in the Super Bowl. We just hired our Dline coach.

Okay so after some digging.
Tomsula had Steve Logan as his OC when Tomsula was the HC of the 2006 Rhein Fire (NFL Europe). After his stint in Europe, Steve Logan was brought onto Boston College to work with Matt Ryan and helped develop Matt Ryan as a college kid. From an article:
"But Logan is best known for the wide-open passing schemes and trick plays..."
The point of all this is that Tomsula had an OC that was more into a passing attack than a ground game.

Please, somebody wake me up. This can't be happening.
Don't get me wrong, I like Tomsula - as DL Coach, or DC if Fangio bailed - but not as HC.
This can't be good.........

If he can keep Fangio (which is unlikely) and find a great OC (also unlikely), then the hire would be great.
Exactly, they can't. I've asked them to explain how it makes sense three times now.
He doesn't have to help the offense. He just needs to hire people who can. Just because you are a D coach doesn't mean your D will be great. Same goes with offense. There are many examples of that in this league.
Brian Billick was supposedly a great offensive mind. His offense was mediocre in Baltimore. Gruden was suppose to be an offensive genius. His offense in Tampa was also mediocre. Dungy was a D coach, but his offense was way better than his defense in Indy.

This is your strategy Jed York? Get rid of Jim Harbaugh after 3 NFC Championships, 1 Super Bowl, one of the best winning records in football. And hire a no head coach experience guy who is a Ron Jeremy look alike at a low salary. You want a low paid, inexperienced Yes Man.
...............................
We are in good hands with Jed. He knows what he is doing. Just trust and believe.

Go Michigan. I will be watching football on Saturdays next year. Ousting Harbaugh for Tomsula is just flipping the fans the bird. Stadium built, captive audience, right? Right.
