If Kap is the franchise QB that most claim he is then how is the window closing? If a team has a franchise QB then they have a shot at a title every year give or take slight tweeks to the other aspects of the team.
Jeez, a person could write an entire book on this topic. Where do we start? I guess the biggest question is DOES JIM HARBAUGH CARE? I'm not entirely convinced that he does at this point in time and this is causing a MAJOR disconnect in the locker room. Harbaugh CAN rest on his laurels and get the high paying job next year.

Our players know that 1) It's Harbaugh's last year here 2) He will NOT make any changes to his coaching staff and 3) There will be no major adjustments to this putrid offense.

Harbaugh will say all the right things and he'll continue to make a half assed effort to do his job but everybody who walks into that locker room know that the fire has been extinguished. Players are acting accordingly. They are pissed and they should be!!!!

If there is any good news, this will allow Baalke (don't have a huge degree of faith in the Yorks) to start thinking about next year. We can't have any knee jerk reactions (ie Tomsula will NOT be our coach next year). This team needs new direction but sadly it won't happen this season.

Unless you can post some links or put in some "in my opinion"s, I am calling BS on this.

This will never happen imo. He is part of the past. Move on.

It is just my opinion and truth be told, we'll never know because management, coaches and players will usually spit out the "company line" (although more comments like Staley's support my theory). But it's my gut that tells me something is wrong and problems normally come from the top down.

I'm praying that I'm dead wrong on this thought process but until proven otherwise, I'm sticking with my guns.
I don't believe in this window crap. If anything, I think its still opening. We have alot of young promising players. Sure Frank might be close to the end but I'm sure we will find a replacement in what is on our roster, free agency or the draft. Vernon is another vet getting up there in age but he has never had great hands. I'm sure we can find a more classic style TE who can take his place. Justin Smith is aging as well. He's a guy that we'll have trouble replacing but we got Aldon, Lynch, Cox, Reid, Brock, culliver, Kaep, Bowman as young guys who are going to help make the transition a lil easier. P. Willis is the one kind of in the middle of his prime so as long as we got him our window will never close, and even his backup looks a lil promising. Either way, we have a great system in place. I don't wanna go back to the pre-Harbaugh era. That SUCKED! Everyone seems to be reaching for the panic button at the first sign of vulnerability, but every great team has a slump every now and then and sometimes a bad season. Our vets deserve a ring, but if they don't get one....TOUGH! There are hundreds of great players who never won a ring. Niners fans be patient, One bad season shouldn't destroy all of our progress up to this point.

Yes yes yes exactly we have kap we have a future and we'll be ok no need to panic looke we have the players in place so if we have or don't have harbaugh we'll be a great team
One thing to fight the opponent but another to come here to do the same.

Yep.

I wanted the Niners to trade him in the offseason, but they're stuck with expensive mediocrity for the next 7 years.

Were not stuck with him. The FO knew what was up. The contract was formed in such a way that he doesn't get paid as much if we end up with a season like this and they can also walk away from his contract without breaking the bank. Kap may be a casualty if/when we miss the playoffs and he may be tied into Jim's future with this team as well. Unless he plays lights out the rest of the season, making better decisions from the pocket, especially in the redzone, not with his legs, I see the Niners drafting a QB early and also bringing in a vet QB. With a possible Kap trade around 2015. Especially if Harbaugh walks.

Well, if Harbaugh is gone after the season, I think they will take a long and hard look at the team. Starting with the QB position wouldn't be a bad idea given Kap's shortcomings. Is an opportunity for the team to start all over. I think if we end up drafting a QB high, it will tell us what does the organization think of Kap. The rest will simply follow, it will only be a matter of time unless for some miraculous reason Kap can make a major breakthrough in his game which is unlikely.

Blame nFL
I can't believe some of the things I'm reading! One bad season (that can be turned around) and its back to square one? C'mon man! Harbaugh needs to remain HC of this team. How many coaches did we go through since Mariucci without making the playoffs? Harbaugh & company show up and were in THE SUPER BOWL! Do you guys really think starting allover is going to do anything besides send us into another playoff drought? We are on the verge of a dynasty! Even Bill Walsh and Joe Montana had a few bad seasons. We need to give Harbaugh some slack, he's earned it.

A couple of losses and the whiners and the trolls come out in force.

And anybody suggesting we are going to trade Kaepernick and draft with our late 1st round pick is just having a laugh.
