don't care, I still enjoy the breakdowns. This loss doesnt even hurt. nevertheless, I still want to know what went wrong and see how we got beat. Just for this week.
understand . i was just venting. i told myself i was going to take a week break like the players are doing but i am not mentally tough enough .. you do have to meet me half way and admit, the red mark in the middle of his forehead looks stupid

Totally off here! It's 31% Coaches adn 70% Players!

Regardless, due to the circumstances our defense faced, who it was against, and where, I find it HARD to put much blame on the "gameplan" or the coaches.
Defensive philosophy, game plan, personnel or player execution (for and against us)...take your pick...it was a fail from top to bottom. Live and learn and grow!

Disagree with you both. Why would you scheme to out duel Manning in a shootout ? Our first drive 2 of 3 times we set up pass for Kaepernick -- end result PUNT (Gore had 1 carry for 4 yards). Second drive 8 plays -- 5 pass, 3 run (Gore has run for 7 yards) -- end result MISSED FG. Third drive -- 2 of 3 plays pass for Kaepernick -- end result PUNT.

The first quarter play calling demonstrates that we were looking to PASS as our first option. The end result was two 3-and-outs, big drop by VD, 1 sack for Kaep, and ZERO points.

This is an identity crisis. The gameplan should have been to keep the ball out of Manning's hand as much as possible, considering our defense was depleted. Once again, Roman decided to spread the field and test Denver's defense. Our weak oline was unable to protect Kaep, and our receivers kept dropping the ball. If we had gone with run heavy (hell, even the read option could've helped), it would've kept Miller and Ware honest from the edges, and eventually our pass game would have opened up.

I blame the players as well, but Id go 50/50 or 55/45 coaches.

uh yes, i am,, i fail to see how some of you can nitpick a game to death where we had a jv team esp on defense going up against varsity. when you account for those circumstance like the injuries and no aldon, its pretty easy to see why we lost. there is no need to rehash over and over something that is no longer valuable. if the same team we saw sunday is the same team we will see for the rest of the season, ok knock yourself out,, but its not. and yes i am grumpy because i am sick and tired of people who act like sunday is who we are. we got our butt kicked, it happens, if we were full strength it probably would not have occurred but we were not and it did.. you people act like if you talk the damn game to death you can somehow change the outcome. the game means nothing moving forward and maybe you should spend your time not worrying so much about the past but figuring out how to proceed in the future. listening and seeing all of the people jumping off the ledge this week would make anyone grumpy. some of you also may just like to torture yourself

not torcher to me. devastating loss or not I can't wait for this thread. I need logic and film to ease my mind. I need answers

For some of us, it's cathartic therapy...... I'm not saying we have huge conclusions to jump to on anyone, but we can at least know why something happens. If you know why something happens, you can understand it and know better going forward.

It's why Alfred Hitchcock ended "The Birds" without explaining why it happened - because if you don't know why something happens, it's worse......

If we at least know why - and beyond just - "guys were out" it helps. You see WHY having a guy like Willis out makes a big difference. You see WHY having a guy like A. Smith out is a big difference, you see WHY having a guy like Bowman out makes a big difference. Sometimes, we take these guys for granted because we always have them playing at a superstar level. This game is good for us to see as to why those things are there and it can give us a greater appreciation for the all-pro's we have.

The interception thrown was a result of a culmination of plays that led up to DEN baiting Kap into that interception. Throughout the 1st half of the game, Kap had shown a willingness to throw the fade/go/vertical route when he saw man to man coverage with the CB in a trailing position. Here are the four throws he made in the first half of the game when he saw this 1v1 coverage. These throws are in chronological order:

1Q 3rd & 3
Kap sees 1v1 press alignment on the backside with Crabtree.

Incomplete. Offensive PI.

------------------------------------
2Q 3rd & 7
CBs in press alignment. Boldin and Lloyd criss cross to get a rub/pick (man buster) as Boldin goes vertical.

Incomplete. Defensive PI.

------------------------------------------------------
2Q 3rd & 8
DEN in press alignment

Kap is quickly pressured, but likes his matchup of Roby vs Boldin so he throws the vertical to Boldin (mid windup).

+18 yards

--------------------------------------------
2Q 2nd & 5
49ers: Smash
DEN: Here, DEN does not have their defenders in a press alignment.

Kap shows the willingness to throw the vertical (Corner route) when he sees that SJ has his defender in a trail position.

+25 yards

.................
^^^^^That mirrored smash play that SJ got the 25 yarder worked pretty well. The opposite side WR (the otherside smash concept)that ran the curl was wide open. The more I see these spread forms with mirrored concepts or multi concepts the more I like them.
