After his first few passes I figured he was way to pumped up. He was over throwing everything.

Sorry, it was an epic fail from top-to-bottom. Period. It's what we do. Every single year. Fangio playing his CB's 50 yards off all game long when the WR's can hardly even walk, Roman running his RB's up against 11 man boxes and passing against 7-man coverages, intermediate-to-long all or nothing passing attempts, low-percentage plays as always, very few short outlets for CK (help this guy OUT!), putting the entire game plan at his feet (running over Gore/Hyde and passing long vs. short and controlled and longer on PA), execution was so sad, refs no-calls on the pushoffs in the EZ but calling everything including an "inappropriate language" call on CK (seriously?), STUPID penalties constantly on 3rd downs, Goodell not even showing up (eff you!), zero adjustments against a 3rd string defense, to tough (amazing plays) TO's, etc. It was just a s**t-storm of epic failure, top-to-bottom and when they zoomed in on Jed York, I couldn't help but thin that someone is getting canned for this...if for nothing else, to send a message from the top that THIS garbage will not be tolerated anymore...the patterns are more than clear in year 4. Enough. This is NOT a championship team on any level after what I've seen the past two weeks. It may have been just "one of those days" where the Chargers, Bears 3rd string, Bills, Cards with no QB, etc. all win when they probably shouldn't have but good teams still eek out these kinds of games esp. at home...and esp. at a home opener. I honestly don't know if I can tab a SINGLE quality player of coach last night. It was THAT bad of a fail. And that has to start at the top. Even Harbaugh would tell you that.

No deep comments here. I just wanted to say that was one of the ugliest games I have watched in a LONG time. When a play without a penalty flag is in the minority, that is a bad game. And I am not saying this because the 49ers lost ... it was just made worse by that. It was so hard to watch I found myself channel surfing and not wanting to continue. In hindsight,. I probably should have.
Penalties = Raideresque.
Lack of pass rush = same ole, same ole. Fangio could not scheme pressure to save his life. His blitz a few times a game approach just isn't cutting it. If they do not find a way to pressure the QB before Aldon returns, this season may go down the tubes. And Tank's ass continues to gather splinters on the bench.
Play clock issues / Wasted timeouts = same ole same ole. I keep hoping this will get better, but it appears it never will under this system. Even on the Crabtree TD the clock had expired.
OL = Weak!!! Iupati continues to get burned, and Kap is hardly ever comfortable in the pocket. And the supposed strength of this line (run) seems to have disappeared. Basically, they can't seem to consistently run or pass block.

Maybe, just maybe, the players need to execute better. When the turnovers count as 3 INTs and 1 lost fumble, there has to be blame spread around. None of those INTs had Kap throwing into double coverage. That points to a lack of execution. Roman's worst call was easily the run play on 3rd and 6 from inside the red zone. That was a horse poop playcall. Not telling Kap to look short range against a zone defense was bad.
Per Harbaugh, this play had both a run and pass option. The choice was on Kap. He decided not to pass the ball.

U guys wanted more Hyde and him be the man he looked like rookie last night and non existent. Fire him right like gore? No we need more gore just like we did against Colts Seattle and Carolina last year when we lost.
Roman is trash and needs to go and kap needs to learn other people play wr besides crabs and use his damn check downs. And defense needs to tighten up secondary and get more pressure.

I don't think the play had a run and pass option. I'm thinking there was an option to call a run or a pass once they got to the line of scrimmage. If you watch the play again, the WRs fired out to look for their blocks. I know it might sound like we are saying the same thing, but we're not. If what Jim says is true, then Kap made a poor choice of play selection there.

Bears did what has been proven to be the defensive recipe against the 49ers even back to the Nolan era - stack the box, run blitz the gaps, if its a run it gets stuffed, if its pass flush the QB.
Why does this still work? - 49ers run no screens, no outside runs, no speed receivers working the soft zones vacated by the LBs playing run so hard, underneath crossing routes that can turn a short pass into serious RAC.
How did San Diego beat the Seahawks pressure scheme yesterday? - bubble screens, Woodhead and Royal running quick routes with RAC underneath. It froze the LBs and coverage and Gates gets open.
Is this 49ers' personnel or offensive game plan? Personally I think it is lack of creativity on the game plan. Either way, until the 49ers learn a way to beat this Defense game plan, they will lose games.
Second point :) - If the 49ers and its OL are so good at the run, why are teams able to stuff runs so well against us? Don't believe it just because the announcers keep saying it.
Last point - Agree with another poster, where is the deep ball? Ellington, or VD deep? Can't remembers a single one yet this season.

INTs - I don't think they can all be laid on CK - if your passing route combinations are predictable, DBs can jump and sit on routes. That is what they did yesterday. Again, this points to a weakness in offensive game planning - not personnel.

4 turnovers on him. Protect the ball, make plays if they're there but DON'T FORCE IT. He did too much forcing it yesterday when it was completely unnecessary.
Thanks OTC for an accurate portrayal of Kap. Seriously, all of you Kaepologists are making me nauseous. He continues to make the same mistakes by relying on his considerable athletic skills and not his brain ( eerily similar to a T Rex but with longer tatooed arms ) We had this game in the bag. All he needed to due is take what the defense gave him, the check down to Gore for example ( Alex does not have your athletic skills but he understood the importance of this, especially when your O-line is playing poorly ) Keep the clock running and protect the ball at all costs. Save the laser throws into coverage for the times when your team is down and running out of time, that is when it makes sense to take that risk. Throw the ball away if you have to, but do not hand it to the other team on a silver platter. The worst part is that you are in total denial, You swear you made the the right choices and would do it again if the same circumstances are presented. UNBELIEVABLE ! That is ignorance and arrogance. The only smart comment you made was that you were terrible. ( and you certainly were ) Learn from your mistakes or you will be condemned to repeat them. It is time to grow up and grow as a leader and a professional. The truly great quarterbacks win with their brains and their eyes. They see the whole field, they look the safety off, they check down when necessary, they throw the ball away when there is nothing there, and most importantly they learn from their mistakes and get better. All of the Kaepologists need to stop making excuses for you. It really is pitiful.

Local radio this morning broke down Kap's passer rating by blitz versus non-blitz for last night's game. He had a 100+ rating when facing the blitz last night. When not facing a blitz, he was like 40 something. CHI's defense found more success dropping 7 and playing coverage. I'm really curious to see what Kap was looking at. He seemed very hesitant pulling the trigger in a few instances in the second half. Going into the game, I thought CHI was very vanilla about their zone coverages based on what I saw from them in week 1. I really hope I see some exotic stuff because if it's basic cover3/tampa2 stuff...

Makes sense.
Even when he wasn't blitzed he was getting pressured....so more men in coverage AND pressure...bad combination. He was flat OFF last night though.
