Just like after cutting Jennings last year, I'm not worried about the long snapper position. Don't mention that dude on the Giants back in 2003, that rarely happens.

The same for me too, only I thought Dahl would've been gone by now and McDermott released was a surprise for me too.

I am SHOCKED McDermott got cut. A few of you guys called that move. WELL DONE! We cut Brian ****ing Jennings for McDermott. He was someone who earned extremely positive reviews.

If he makes a mistake and gets beat, it's the same result as Dahl playing to the best of his woefully-limited ability.
I'm only trying to explain what the likely thought process is. Dahl can contribute to an extent on defense and he can contribute on special teams, he also has a lower cap number than Spillman. All these factors probably put him over the top on a guy who is a very good special teams player but can't do anything else.

Three LS in three years... and KMcD didn't miss a snap last year. Not sure what to make of that.
WTF? Is this a money move?
This a move that gives them flexibility as Nelson has shown he can play TE
I don't think they'd risk their LS like that...

I thought his name was James??![]()
Middle name.
James McCray is how he is listed on the 49er roster.

Oh, I'm not arguing that Spillman should be kept. I want both of them gone, lol.

The reality is that they don't have anyone that knows the defense the way Dahl does and I'm sure that Fangio isn't lost on that fact. I like McCray and think he has good potential, better than Spillman to be a contributor on defense down the road, but that's down the road and not here and now.

Agreed. But Dahl has a terrible contact so sadly he will have to stay. If they cut Ventrone McCray is in!

No surprise. No guaranteed money and can be brought back in basically a week to week contract.

Well that's good, he worked his ass off and really showed a ton of potential. Glad to see all that hard work rewarded if in fact he's going to be on this roster going forward.
