This.. It really Shouldn't be asking too much . if the plays take to long to get to the huddle you use timeouts . we need to recognize these crucial moments and improve. Its been Driving everyone nutz for a while now . please.
And mixing up the snap count a little bit so were not always getting the plays off at the last second...

...which allows the pass rushers to fly off the snap right on que. I just don't see the advantage of this concept other than controlling the TOP more. This is great if it = points. But if it doesn't, it leads to added pressure on CK and the offense and him pressing and like we saw in the NFCCG, many unnecessary TO's.

The advantage of doing this is to try and force the safeties to declare their positions on the field. If you are able to watch the safeties, they move around a lot presnap to try and confuse Kap, a young QB. The Rams are notorious for this. I seriously doubt the defensive linemen are looking up at the playclock to get a jump at the snap. Maybe the stand up rushers are, but not the down linemen. You'd be able to see them look up at the end zone from their three point stance if they were doing this, which is not what any DL should be doing. They should be looking at the ball and trying to nail down the QB's cadence.

As for Harbaugh I'd like him to get Kap under the center more often. For a QB that needs to be looking at the field, taking a snap from center is counter productive. Kap needs to be looking at the field from snap to throw, not having to worry about securing the snap from center. I'd like for HaRo to get the play(s) promptly into Kap's helmet so he can break the huddle with ample time to survey the defense.

49ers love to pass out of running formations, but I want more draw plays out of passing formations. Hunter would excel at this sort of play.

No question...we talked about this one before as to the rationale for doing this. To make the S's declare. That said, CK often times is very much rushed to the LOS a lot so we can give him a few more seconds to relax, take a deep breathe and still snap with 3, 2 or 1 seconds left on the play clock (even after all the mostions and shifts). Obviously, yeah, the down side is if we don't change it up some, it could put us at a disadvantage with the pass rush (they can still easily time it IMHO). I wonder if the Hawks were doing this given they were getting a good jump in the NFCCG. So it really is a cat-and-mouse game but one done with a purpose (at least we think so).

No question on your other points!

Yeah I agree there are times he seems rushed. Sometimes he has the team set at the LoS, with time to make audibles and adjustments and he's just yelling verbiage waiting for the playclock to get to 1 second, calmly looking to see if the safeties change their alignment. Sometimes he's frantically shifting players around, as the playclock nears 3 seconds. It's these times that need to be addressed by getting the plays in sooner.

It's hard with this offense because they will call more than one play in the huddle, and on top of that, use pre-snap motion and shifts. This makes it doubly important to streamline the playcalling portion so Kap can break the huddle with ample time left on the playclock. Roman can't be thinking of what plays to call next as the whistle blows on the play that just ended, he needs to already know.

Absolutely...hopefully this process is and can be addressed this off season. I'll be watching the pre season games to see if we can visible see a difference for all the QB's pre snap. It should be interesting to watch and speculate on!
If we win the Super Bowl, I don't think anyone really cares what else happens. All of the below would be nice

Kaep taking more steps in his growth as a QB.

An increased role for Kendall Hunter and the other backup running backs.

More picks from our secondary.

Better and more consistent pass protection from the O-line.

Kick and/or punt returns taken to the house.

However, if we got all of this, and still didn't win the Super Bowl, it would be meaningless at this point.

Ponder for a second about what he has accomplished..

The most winning coach the last 3 years.

More wins in the Playoffs than any other coach.

He took this very young and talented group and turned them into winners. Completely changing the mindset and culture.

Do I think it is his fault for not winning a SB? No I do not.. We lost every year to the eventual champ and there were plenty of situations were the ball just did not bounce our way or we didnt get the call.

He turned AS from a joke to a decent QB.

The list goes on and on..........

This! And, he turned us around on a lockout shortened season. Jim Schwartz laughed at him and sarcastically said "good luck" heading into that season. One Jim is still a head coach.

Were it not for boneheaded Kyle Williams muff or a fumble reversal on a bogus "forward progress stopped" call, I believe we would have won the SB that year.
an offense that doesn't shoot itself in the foot

no more dumbass challenges, no more delay of game penalties every other drive and khaki pants.
  • More 3 WR sets
  • Put Screen Pass into playbook
  • Less predictable running on first down.
  • Improve Anthony Davis blocking so to not get beat on so many key passing downs, in key games.
  • A defense that doesn't take the play off due to being offsides, costing us so much....

Davis was playing with a torn labrum all season. when healthy ..he's a beast
Beat seahawks IN seattle, win The Superbowl! its happening!
Super Bowl Win
I'm looking for him to prove without a doubt the value of having an offense oriented head coach. We're going to need it early in the year IMO, being down two All-Pro LB's.

probably one of the most talented 49er teams ever, 3 1000s yard recievers are u kidding me? and a beast TE and trio of RBs by the likes of gore hyde lattimore lmj hunter. arguably best oline in the league and i haven't even gotten to the defense which is top 5 for sure when bowman back, yes i would be disappointed if we don't win the superbowl, i only see seahawks standing in our way and its time to get over the hump.
A Super Bowl. Nothing less. Being the best 3 teams in the NFL the past 3 years with no Lombardi Trophy's to show. Yet Seattle does. It annoys the hell out of me.

Did not read the thread, so I apologize if any of these have been said already. Here's what I expect.

  • Useless timeouts called
  • Pretend to go on 4th down with fake hard counts
  • Run right into the teeth of 8 and 9 man boxes
  • Blitz once or twice a game ... if that
  • Watch his face contort as if being whipped by a cat o' nine tails
  • Tucked sweatshirts into pleated khakis, with a Sharpie necklace
  • One word ... Jumbo
  • Nary a screen pass in sight
  • Pad pounding motivation
  • And of course, "Who's got it better than us"

I'm just hoping the 9ers get into the playoffs again and can keep playing at a dominant level. 9ers will definitely feel the absence of Navarro Bowman, Wilhoite is alright but I want Borland to unseat him.
