Agree with most here. Borland looked fine. I thought we got good linebacker play overall tonight. Wilhoite, Moody, Borland, all seemed like they did a decent job.

The problem was the d-line. Other than Dial and Carradine, nobody on the d-line could hold their ground or make plays in the backfield.

We had that one guy, Purcell, play most of the snaps as a true nose. The Ravens just kept running at him the entire game. I don't know what they were trying to prove, but I guess they wanted to prove that they could move Mike Purcell. That was their entire game plan.

Our guys looked tired from a hard camp, and then flying across the country. With 30 players not playing, I can't really get worried about it.

9ers D having the ball run up the gut was a huge weakness last year and it looks like its the same this year.

and you're going to make that judgement based off of a preseason game in which we had all backups starting on the D-line?

It was convenient for both Harbaughs. John was able to flex their run game, a huge problem last year, while at the same time vetting a position that Jim has some serious questions at.

All with a bunch of players who won't make either team's roster. Brilliant.

What brilliance are you looking for in game one of the preseason between two brothers that likely discussed the gameplan in detail? Was Purcell not the most pressing question mark? My guess would be that the coaching staff are fairly confident in what they have with the rest of the defensive line.
This game was a complete "lay up". It was nice seeing what the backups bring to the game but as far as games go this was painfully boring...and bad.
Borland missed tackles and his pass coverage is terrible.. Wilhoite is the starter

I wouldn't be surprised if Jim and John asked each other to run certain plays. If it was a big problem for us, I think Jim may have asked him to run it up the middle all day.

Yep.

double yep. Borland is a liability in the passing game and he doesn't look fast at all.
bordland did "ok"? what game were you watching? he got roasted in the pass game and took bad angles all over the place. he had a couple decent plays (one on special teams PR) but overall you would have to grade him at a D or worse this game

Certainly we know what Borland can be 1 game into the preseason of his rookie year....................

Overall he actually did pretty well. He had some good tackles and did well on special teams too. His strength is around the line of scrimmage and making tackles.
