Best case scenario is that nothing more egregious comes out of this and it takes a year or so for it to wind through the legal system. Meanwhile that draft of his contract extension just went through the shredder . . . then we move on in 2015.

Pretty much.

I agree.
Trent has time to get quality picks in the draft. He has a very good record of success w/DB and our coaches have equal success in developing them.

It isn't like last year when the crap hit the fan during Training Camp.

He's arguably our best CB, we gave our best pass rusher multiple chances after what seemed like a month of fing up, so no. Imho, I feel like this could end up a blessing in disguise and at mid or seasons end we can sign him to a cap friendly deal granted he does well on and off the field.

This is exactly how I feel 808. Hopefully he chills out, plays well and we can get him for a dirt cheap extension. Can't cut him right now, it leaves the CB position way too thin.

If this has been brought up already I apologize . . . but for the "get rid of him" side;

What if this was Crabtree or Iupati? Same reaction . . . or are you apt to be more tolerant?

same reaction

I think we wait until after the draft and we have more facts to work with in his case. Then you could be looking at a suspension by the league or even the team coming up. I don't know if we cut him but it will definately effect whether we want to extend or resign him. It will definetly cost the moron Millions of dollars.

Where can I get a job and make millions to be a screw up?

How about Kaepernick?

How about Harbaugh?

Not that it matters. We aren't the ones making the decisions.

This might not be the PC thing to say, but I absolutely would think of it differently if it was Harbaugh or Kap.

I'm looking at it through the perspective if I owned a business. I would be very hesitant to get rid of someone who is highly talented, and who is vital to my companies success. The same cannot be said for a less valuable worker, because they're a dime a dozen. I can find someone else who will do the same job minus the headaches.

The more valuable a person is, the more you put up with. That's just the way life is.

It would be INSANE to even think about cutting arguably our best CB right now. He's not the first guy to have been arrested on this team. Just let it play out in the legal system and see what happens. Besides, what would I do with my screen name if he is cut?
I think his side is important and if he has any sincere regret which are all things to be judged my ownership and management and i trust them. Also, i see people saying the knuckles are a felony and thats not necessarily true. More than likely a Misd. unless he gets charged with using them in an assault attempt or brandishing but as far as i have read, the charge is possession. Not the greatest but lets be real....in the grand scheme of things having a pair of knuckles isnt exactly a murder charge!

Agree with that. It would be foolish to rush to any decision. If he was projected to be the 4th or 5th corner, he'd likely be gone. But we were counting on him to start, so he'll get a shot to stick around. I hope he stays, plays well, and never gets in any more trouble.

When I think of the niners I think of high integrity guys as our identity like Willis, Justin Smith, Vernon, Gore, even Q and Lattimore to name just a few There have been quite a few arrests in the last few years tho... Maybe the guys need to sit in on a few warriors practices with coach rev. Jackson

Yep, rooting for the guy to get his act together along with Smith. Both are going to be needed for years to come.
