Without a doubt!
When Kaep avoids rushes, he scores TDs.

( just as a comparison )

Our pass pro definitely took the longest to come together over the last couple years. Obviously, what aided us most was:
- lots of quick 3-5 step decisions to throw it
- Adam Snyder booted for Alex Boone
- Goodwin getting significantly better from 2011 to 2012
- Anthony Davis getting significantly better from 2011 to 2012
- and yes, let's face it.. Kaep has ridiculous athleticism as a QB to separate and backyard ball it.
To add something else interesting...
Kaep had the 2nd best time to attempt passes at 2.88.
Alex had the 28th best time to attempt passes at 2.53.

Alex had one of the best OL's in front of him and still got sacked way more than was needed. Chiefs OL can get as good as they want, it won't stop Smith from getting sacked.
The line is good but was in the process of becoming good, or better at pass blocking. Very powerful run line, so-so pass blocking. They jelled last year but CK still had 16 sacks and he's one of the most elusive QBs I've watched...so I put much of that on the line as well. Is KC's line better? Don't know but I look forward to finding out!
Smith's style--take a sack rather than force the ball--led to more sacks and will likely be the same this year. Is this what you are referring to by the bold? But it's a style of QBing that worked well for him the past two years and we'll see if it continues.

I can't wait to see Smith take on his old defense. Wishing this game was televised. I think those streaming sites are bad news.

Haven't missed a niners game in years on the east coast thanks to these guys!

Reid's offense differs from the Harbaugh offense in that he follows the Walsh pattern more closely: he always has an immediate outlet to either a back or a TE on every passing play. With the 49ers, VD has never been that quick outlet guy (I think V McDonald will be that guy), and Gore is no longer the receiving threat he once was. KC has Fasano and Moeaki (when healthy) who run those short routes very well and Charles and McCluster are both a threat on short passes. Reid will get the ball to both of those guys a lot.
(looks like Charles will not play this Friday)
