Yall both have points... but lets be clear, we don't need him for pass Downs. He's a FA after this year ether he's gonna be a run down legit specialist or not. Guys,if you're gonna build a championship team, sometimes you need/extend key depth positions/rotational guys. Especially in key positions.

I say play him this season he's a F/A next year. His return from the Knee injury appears to be holding him back right now...

I thought chip said he was completely healthy a few weeks ago
He was really good for us in 2013. Since then he's either been injured or playing poorly.
Back to back specials? Is he on the keeper list for next year?

He was good playing NT against ARI and a big part of the run defense's improvement in that game. I'd love for him to come back for another season, and should be prioritized to being back. I know he's getting up there in age, but in the past 3 seasons he's missed 18 games so there isn't a lot of mileage on him. He is solid, versatile, and should be reasonably priced. This DL needs veterans.

This. I see no reason to dump him and every reason to bring him back.
Absolutely agree. Has played very well the past 2 games and we could use him as insurance in the event Moron Baalke doesn't sign another NT. Seems he's recovered from that knee injury.

Yup...really liking Dial back at his natural LDE spot too even though he's banged up too some.

We've seen some NTs play up there into their mid thirties. And like you said, hasn't had a lot of mileage the last several years.

Still curious to know if Ian comes back or if we take one we can develope in the draft.

My thoughts are that he will return on an incentive laden, prove it kinda deal. I am tampering my expectations though, because afterall he's missed more games than he's played in due to injury. Hoping for the best.

FA sho.. if Dorsey finishes the year on a high note and Ian comes back strong.... We'd all be doing backflips. Another pass rusher and an ILB signing like Alonso,re-up ray-ray and let's roll!

For sure but I wouldn't count on either Dorsey or Williams. You get the best NT in the draft or FA and let all three compete. We just saw how everything starts with the NT. There's just no way around it in a base 3-4.

Lose the 3-4, future playmakers like Buckner and Armstead wasted eating up blockers for horrible LB's
and too hard to find NT's

Switch to a 4-3 under, UT has freedom to penetrate

LDE- Lynch
UT- Armstead
NT- Dial/resign Dorsey
RDE- Buckner/Blair

ILB- Bowman
ILB - Alonzo
OLB- Armstrong

Add depth via free agency and draft
