It's called the don't-have-to-move handshake

Exactly this. Still get to stay home, play some ball and gets some $ in the twilight of your career.

I think its this. If a Ring was that important...he would have waited for a contender to come calling. I dunno though, if he had just kept his mouth shut...he would have made 3x times that amount for the rest of the season and would probably have been released and he'd have the offseason to look for a team or possibly just retire as a niner

I read he still gets his whole base salary from us due to a one time termination pay:

Interesting, https://t.co/puQ35PUtfP, Bowman will get to keep his entire base salary from the 49ers due to one time termination pay

He has a family. This is the best outcome for being on another team.
The fact that Bo signed with the Raiders should be a clear indication of where Bo is at and that this FO did the right thing. It's also an indictment of a player coming to that same realization.

No question.
He should have retired and been a quitter like Willis.

Thank you Bowman for sacrificing your leg and not letting go of the ball when you got pretzel'd. Now that I've gotten that out of the way I'd just like to say f**k THE RAIDERS.

Co-sign this sh!t
I wonder if after that Colts game Frank Gore inspired Bow to do this. I was at the Charles Haley meltdown game in '91, some players emotionally pop (in their own way) having to cope with battling old teamates on failure teams -- whom they deeply respected like family.

Bow was getting painful to watch, his locker room attitude being bitter, and passive. We let the guy host our season preview, and Bow acted like, "why am I still here?".

Poor man's Willis, that's how the history books will remember Bow. Yeah.
[b]That's going to be weird . I wish we would have gone to Green Bay,Pittsburgh, or K.C. instead. I thought a return to a 3-4 would have served him better. I ssvthe lure of not having to move was too much.
