I'm sure I wasn't the only one who is beginning to become concerned about the play of Isaac Sopoaga and (to a lesser extent) Ray McDonald. They were beat at the point of attack by the interior o line of the Rams. Sopoaga was manhandled in the first quarter.
this poor play is most evident in the run game, but it cascades into impacts on the pass rush.
we will muddle through this season. But I have deep concerns going forward. We have no plan for NT, and our reserve DLs are all undrafted guys that can only play end, if that.
Anybody got a plan?

I totally agree and have been saying for some time our DLine has not played as well as last season.
As far as a plan - Draft & FA.

I said it before. This upcoming draft we need to spend 2 of the top 4 picks on defensive front 7, preferably on the defensive line.

There is your answer. I hope Harbaugh and Fangio read this.
RJF can get it done.

Not good... It's my opinion you always use one of ur top 3 on a trench guy.... After we ignored it last year I'm wanting them to dedicate 2 of the top 4 picks on defensive front 7 so we can get some rotation going

I saw him throw someone bigger than him to the ground like it was nothing... He looks like someone who would be undersized for the position, but seems country strong.
Also Dubbs made a play... I remember seeing #83 out there on defense..lol.

I'm worried about all 3 of them not just 2 of the. They all are being pushed around in the run game. And none of the guys on the bench are the answer.

Where's Maddog? He got that JJ Watt call perfectly. He needs to find us a D lineman

Not an excuse after a bye week. Rams OL had no issues firing off on them and the coaches did a nice job using "wham" blocks on us...and even threw a few ST plays. We played the same exact vanilla game.

Yeah, Tukuafu and Dobbs were nice finds but IMO it's time to upgrade and see how the chips fall. I'd draft someone in the 1st if Goldson is tagged/re-signed and let them compete with Justin and Ray. Let him backup both and give them breathers. I think we need to rotate more because our guys usually end up tired by the end of the game. I'm not sure if Ian Williams will be the backup next year. He could be gone as well. Like I said Dobbs is a good fine, Tukuafu was a nice pickup and they can hold their own but I think we need guys who can get pressure consistently. I could see 1 or both being gone next year and replaced in the draft. I could see Williams getting replaced as well. Who knows maybe we draft a NT early and let Sopoaga go and RJF stays at backup DE which is probably a better spot for him. Either way I think we need to do more rotating and keeping our guys fresh.

I said this after the Minn game and people wanted to blame the O because the D was "on the field too much". We have a depth issue that Trent has ignored.
