Baalke to the rescue! Along with Marathe, he will find a way to either replace Crabtree or sign him. If Kaepernick continues to have a great relationship with Crabtree then he may want to come back and be reasonable...as CK was.

Definitely a possibility, comes down to what Crabtree wants... He's a Texas guy but he also seems to have good chemistry with Kaep...
And he'll command a big salary, a salary the Niners aren't going to be able to pay.
So, like I said, it's up to Crabs.

I truly think Kap took the deal he took specifically for a guy like Crab. I am sure Crab knows this and will consider this in trying to see if we can work with him to stay. Crabtree knows that we want him his QB wants him and Harbaugh wants him. Notice how supportive 49ers Studios were when he held his camp in Dallas this summer. They followed him all the way out to DFW to document it and I think that was no mistake. Throughout all the chaos and turmoil he has seen via Dick Sherman it is us that have been behind him. Business is business but I think that we will find a way to keep Crab especially now that we know what this offense looked like when Crab was out. Notice Baalke didn't panic and move the earth to find a WR like Josh Gordon. Why? Because we believed in Crab and we thought he was worth waiting for whatever the risk and Crab came back when we needed him most. Baalke will find a way!

I'm beginning to think that Crabtree will be reasonable in his negotiations with the 49ers. The only evidence anyone has to the contrary is a holdout that took place 5 years ago. We haven't heard a peep from him since. Even coming into a contract year, we haven't heard a word from Crabtree about his contract situation. I'm not saying it's a certainty he remains a 49er, but the idea that he will demand too much seems to pure conjecture.

My comparison to Fitzgerald was simply that I think Fitz has been a much better receiver. If a top corner wants to boast about his skills, he should compare them to the best.
Crabs told him, "I ain't into that sweet stuff."

Well, if you believe Sherman's side of the story, Crabtree supposedly disrespected him somehow. Funny how Sherman won't explain how or why. Maybe it's because the whole thing was concocted in his mind. I'm 100% sure he instigated whatever happened.
Also given Sherman's history of beefing with other players (all of whom have no problems with anyone else), I find Sherman very hard to believe. According to him he's this great dude that people attack out of jealousy. LOL, yeah ok. Sherman is just an insecure, narcissistic a*****e. All the hate he receives is well deserved.
His infatuation with Crabtree is weird and kind of disturbing. I bet if he wasn't an NFL player he'd be stalking these guys, because the truth is, he's jealous. He's starved for attention, wants to be universally loved, but doesn't understand that he's such a jackass it's impossible for people to like him. So he resorts to bringing attention to himself by any means necessary, good or bad.

Maturity could happen, but history is a better measure than hopes and dreams. I'm hoping he stays healthy, has a stellar year AND remains reasonable in negotiations. Will Baalke see his value? WR hasn't been a priority to this team and Baalke has been hesitant to lay out franchise money.

Agreed. IF Crabtree shunned him, I'm fairly certain it was for a good reason. I don't believe a word that comes out of Dick's mouth...like the video evidence of him whinning to the media that he went over to shake Harbaugh's hands and Harbaugh shunned him? B.S. The video showed Sherman say something to Harbaugh from a distance and then sprint off before Harbaugh could even get turned around. The dude is a calculated media whore who stirs crap up to bring attention to his ego. I thought he was originally doing it for the big pay day (which worked) and it would die down after that. Clearly, this is all pure ego now.

So true, but it also puts money in his pocket. Many are now calling him the best CB in the league! LOL!

One problem I see on the horizon in keeping Crabtree is that he just loves Texas (or so he says). If either the Cowboys or the Texans throw money at him, I can easily imagine him going back to Texas.

Save the tag for Vernon!!
crabs is better than vern tho

That's debatable, but what isn't debatable is the $5M disparity between the WR tag and the TE tag...

The biggest FA receivers we had are Randy Moss and from what I understand, the 49ers wanted him, but he didn't want to return and Anquan Boldin, and we resigned him. In terms of franchise receiver money, we are in uncharted waters. We will see what happens.

I don't expect them to be able to retain Crabtree and I'm not sure he's worth what he will probably demand from the team... But, on the other hand, there's this:

Now, one could say that Kaepernick's rating of almost 13 points higher with Crabtree is partly because he had more options with Crabtree there and since there will be a much deeper receiving corps, Kaepernick will flourish. But, there's no question that you can see chemistry between Kaepernick and Crabtree.
