instead of trenton robinson look for Michael Thomas to be a dark horse final 53 pick.
He can play nickel back, goal line back and safety. I do not believe Robinson can do that and Thomas has experience in the scheme. Keeping Thomas on the 53 would allow us to only carry 4 pure corners and use that spot on retaining Reuland as #3 TE while also keeping Dobbs in his usual back up DE roster spot.

Anything that allows us to Keep Rueland is a good plan , and I agree Thomas has a shot

i wouldn't be surprised if Colin Jones doesn't make it. I haven't even noticed him this preseason.
Our safety depth concerns me. None have stepped up.

I think Thomas has a tiny chance, definitely a dark horse. Why dont you think Robinson can play nickel, goal line, and safety? He was a much higher rated player coming out of college than Thomas.
We dont need to carry more than 4 pure corners. If someone gets hurt then we can make some moves and sign one.

Is there anyone who plays just on special teams that you have noticed? Jones might be our best special teams player, he'll be the guy Sealy would keep.

I would agree with this except for the fact that Goldson has been such a problem to sign. Hence, I expect to see Goldson gone next season and the 49ers invest a spot for Robinson with the hope of developing him into a solid backup or possible a starter. Baalke is only going to accept so much from Goldson before he just tells him to take his game playing somewhere else. At that point, the 49ers will need a more experienced player ready.
Of course, this will change if a serviceable vet winds up getting cut from some other team on Friday. In that case, Robinson may be released, but barring a situation of that nature, I believe the 49ers keep him, or at least try to get him through waivers and onto the PS.

Unless a good corner or safety is cut from another team yeah. Unless one of them get hurt.
We carried what, 5 corners last year? Spencer was active 2 games I think but we never had more than 4 active. We carried 6 safeties but this is where we carry less players so that we carry more receivers and running backs.

Agree, there is so many TE's in the league similar to Rheuland that I doubt he would get picked uip. The last 7 (inactives for the game) are basically PS players with bigger pay checks. In the above scenario you would need to carry 2 OL on the PS to be able to call up in case of injuries.
This would make room for another corner...

Yeah, we could vary well use CJ Spillman, Trent Robinson or another S in the dime packages as an extra DB instead of a CB. We did it with Reggie Smith for a few years.

Can't really pick apart this prediction at all.
Even though we have added so much "depth" at the WR position why is that still the biggest question mark for me?
Probably just my preseason overreactions.

Jones and Spillman are beasts on Special Teams. I'm gonna miss Blake Costanzo
