Maybe this, but a more likely scenario is that Alex will try too hard to win this game for obvious reasons leading to mistakes and a loss.
After a week 2 loss to Detroit Alex will feel pressured from fans teammates & coaches. This will be the begining of the end for him as a starting QB. He will be sitting on the bench after the bye week. soooo sad becuase I really like him as a good and decent human being but he has been consistanly average, last year was his last (and only btw good year).. Sorry, I'm just not a lockstep koolaid drinking, blindfaith, it's everyone elses fault, ignore the facts believer OK...... let the hate fly.

I will not hate you for your opinion nor will I criticize you. Your belief is not without your own observations over a prolonged period of time. That said, I am looking forward to this season based off our play last year without an offseason and brand new systems and coaches to learn on all sides of the ball. This year we have the full offseason and we have seemingly improved our roster, so I expect progression not regression from everyone, including Alex Smith. We finally have competent coaching for the first time since Mariucci and I for one am looking forward to it. Alex is in the best position since he came to the NFL and I want to see what he does with it. I expect wins and I expect opponents best. Our schedule is tough but I am not sure tougher. Last year 5 road trips east for 4 wins and we had 3 tough teams in there too in PHI BAL and DET. Add to that we were 13 and 3. I know we have to face NE and GB and we did not last year but I think BAL and PIT are tougher and we faced them last year. So I expect us to WIN THE DIVISION and have a chance to finish the postseason undefeated!! If we don't win the west, I will not be happy with someone and it will probably be Alex Smith but if we win it I will be pleased with him, especially if we win that game in February.

I've played this game about 50 times on Madden 12 and here has been my formula for success against GB.
1. Match up Culliver on Jennings and either double him or give extra safety help over the top. Carlos Rogers and Tarrell Brown match up well with Jordy Nelson and Driver and can take them one on one but Jennings is tough and requires the speed Culliver has to stay tight on him.
2 Almost never blitz. The Packers run game is soft and the O-line is not very good nor proven with the change up at their tackle spots. The Smith's and Ray McDonald usually come up with a few sacks a game and are more than enough to stuff their running game. The rest of the field I usually post up in man defense with some zone in the middle to cover Finley, or a deep cover 2 or 3 to keep everything covered.
3. Lots of runs away from Clay Matthews and at BJ Raji. Matthews is just too good and Raji is a stuffer, but he gets tired easy. Hitting him early usually means hes worn out late in the game. Staley and Iupati on the left side prove to be a mismatch for their LB's and DE on that side.
4. Throwing slants and crossing patterns shallow against their linebackers usually works because they are aggressive and not great in coverage. I generally ignore the outside because their corners are too good and our WR's just don't have the speed or talent to take advantage of them. (This is without Moss and Manningham however)
5. Vernon Davis is a total mismatch for their safeties and linebackers, he needs to be a big part of the offense and quick throws over the middle and through the seams work well.

1) Pressure on Rodgers--he does not play nearly as well from the prone position.
2) Short passes to Gore and Miller, mixed with deep to Moss, VD and Manningham--then slants to Crabtree, and VD, et.al.
3) Gore and Jacobs tiring out the DL.
This game could be a tight game going either way or a blow out win for the 9ers, but I don't see a blow out by GB against our D.

Now that's just homerism. I agree that a tight game seems likely. Whoever makes the mistakes will lose.

We're going to kick the s**t out of these f**king pussies in their own home and expose them even worse than KC did last year

Harbaugh isn't shy about pouring it on so this may happen. If the 9ers offense is perking then the game could be very nice!

I don't actually think it'll be a blow out, but I think we can handle them with more ease than people are letting on, not to mention Rodgers is going to be eating dirt all day long

I think the Niners will win. Here's why:
1. GB will focus on passing the ball. We can rush 4 AND GET PRESSURE with those 4 guys. Then drop 7.
2. GB is playing with a chip on their shoulders? Well so are we. We came closer than the Pack last year and we want to come out and show the league that last year wasn't a fluke.
3. We have multiple new weapons and the GB defense will not know how to gameplan. Looking at last years film will be useless.
4. With Gore, Hunter, LMJ, and Jacobs, we can control the clock.
I know it will be a tough game, but I truly believe that Harbaugh has something up his sleeves that will give the 9ers an advantage. Look for a vanilla preseason and then we're gonna explode on Green Bay.

I agree that Harbaugh has something up his sleeves to give the Niners an advantage for this game, and I can't wait to see it.
