No but I think he's a narc
No he's not.

But he's been disappointing considering how great he was supposed to be coming out of the draft. He was supposed to be the next big play maker at WR and a true #1. So far he's looked like a good #2 WR and more of a possession WR than a playmaker. But I will give him 1 more season to be that play maker. If he doesn't have a break out season this year I officially give up on him being a true #1.

And there are at least 5 WRs I'd easily take over him from that same draft..sadly..

The knock on Crabtree coming out of college was that he was not a typical #1 receiver because he was lacking in speed. So that shouldn't be a surprise. He was a tremendous possession receiver T-Tech and had outrageous ability to get in front of DBs or reach over them for the ball. He has not been as successful in the pros because of DB talent level and injuries but he may be able to learn a lot from Moss and Manningham. I wouldn't doubt that he can have a very good career.
I ask " If a Crabtree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, did it make a sound?"

Not a bust...just don't trust him on any level...don't trust him if the game was on the line, don't trust he's mature enough to be a leader, top-notch producer, to say the right thing, put in any extra work ala the Smith's, McDonald, Brooks, etc., take initiative, sit in the front of class on his own, be a top professional and Niner we can all be proud of, etc....the next great Niner WR. Heck, I'd trust Ginn more on a crucial play over Crabtree.

As to why Crabtree and Ginn are starting tonight? Naturally, the coaches know what we have in both and will take a few snaps and get off the field so we can look at Moss, Manningham and Jenkins (and NaPalm, etc.).

Has there ever been ANY player in the league go this far w/o playing in a single preseason game? The one thing I do trust in Crabtree is that he'll do "just enough" to keep us guessing if he will ever live up to the professional we drafted him to be.

PS: On a side note, I have listened to every single video interview of our defensive players...and the thing I came away with the most? Professionalism. Man, these guys are ALL so well-spoken, so bright, determined, say all the right things, engaging, mature, focused, honest, genuine, have great attitudes, etc. I'm just so proud to call all of those guys Niners - they remind me so much of the defensive players/leaders from the 80/90's!

Agree totally! Made this note in another thread that the team's character is in good hands. I would include most of the offensive players in this as well. Gore, Smith, Walker and the OLine are all stand up guys you would like to have for neighbors....just no house parties please!

Cartoons don't have to follow the laws of physics.
