I think our front office freaked out when Dalton got picked and wasted draft picks trading up for the highest QB they had on their board even though he was over drafted. How many times last year and this offseason have we seen reports that this guys is having trouble catching on? Quite a few actually. So you're telling me beat writers and NFL sources are just saying this negative stuff about Kaep because they have nothing else to do? Yea because that happens all the time...bro.

No one should have any strong conclusions about Kaepernick at this point, IMHO.

.. but again, we brought in these new weapons to help the entire offense... not just one QB or the other.

Yep news reports are the holy grail.

Aldon Smith at number 7 was a reach, we were supposed to finish last and be in the hunt for Luck last year, everyone predicted the Giants to win the Super Bowl at the end of the regular season, and Steve Bono should replace Montana and not Steve Young. Ya man all those stories that people wrote about those situations are legit.

Nobody is in the huddle or at the training facility. All I know is Kaepernick was at the teams facility working out all offseason throwing passes to whoever would catch them. That is hard work and dedication. Those are two assets that many individuals don't have and are the framework to success. Let us not judge someone off of their first 55 throws in the NFL with 50 of them coming in Preseason games their rookie year without a minicamp. Yes many rookie QBs were successful (Cam/Dalton), but they were more polished. Nobody expected that type of production out of Kaep his rookie year because of his transition from the offense he ran at Nevada to the pro game.

I agree reports arent always correct...I work in sports media and this dwight howard situation has proved that haha

However you're looking at one side of it...media isnt always wrong...

Also you Cam and Dalton we're ready to play...Kaep isnt...and still isnt apparently and all I'm saying is he has a way to go to be the starter so the team isnt making decision on personnel as if he's the starter for the future.

Also, Moss was a no-risk signing. I don't think that is a sign of building towards anything in particular.

I think that is getting a really good deal at an "EVERYTHING MUST GO" sale.

God, I pray CK7 becomes our future at QB. He is so talented! I can only imagine what he is capapble of doing once he master's that play book

1) The 49ers draft room cheered out loud when the Bengals selected Andy Dalton.
2) Kaepernick has had 5 entire weeks of training camp in the NFL to beat out an 8 year player. What pray-tell happened in those five weeks to indicate that he isn't "catching on"?

We waited 7 years for a particular quarterback to catch on, and by all "reports", he was a bust.
So now, the draft pick that the GM of the year and draft room cheered for only gets five weeks to prove himself. That is some tough sledding.

Basing it on articles written by people who are guessing since we all know that the media is not allowed to watch the real meat of the practices is not a basis for a good assessment. Also, his limited play also doesn't allow for a good assessment either as he was in mop up duty and didn't get to be analyzed in an assorted array of situations.

Also, college was college-this is now and in a different system. JH is in no rush, Kaep will get his op, Jim is doing it right, let him develope and get comfortable and confident. He also wants to see how far he can go with Alex.

As far as the original post goes, it was just to beef up the off. wr position. Unless Kaep starts this year, if Moss has a decent year like 10 tds or more, we will probably lose him the following year cause of the cap. situation in the future.
